I’m not sure he would’ve had enough time for it to matter. Stetson’s legs were also massively underrated all year. He’s the tougher QB to prep for.
I actually think his legs were overrated, by the end of the year the way the media talked you'd think he was Lamar Jackson.
His legs were always pointed to but he never did anything nuts. Maybe twice a game he could extend a drive. Not like we ever used RPOs or called QB runs.
We played so poorly and made some many mistakes and costly penalties for the first 2.5 quarters on offense that I'm not sure it would have mattered who our QB was.
More than either team truly playing poorly (outside of the penalties I guess), I think both defenses just brought it. I haven’t seen hitting like that and dudes flying to the ball that fast in at least 5 years.
No doubt the defenses played a part. But you really can't score on Bama's defense when you're having 1st and 15s and 3rd and 12s all night.
Defense in the modern game is dead* *Unless your defense has 10-12 5 stars on it like both of our teams, in which case it can actually still be quite effective.
was infuriating how much Monken wanted to put the game on Stetson's arm, and get cute with all the TE eye candy. We ran the ball with success in the SECCG 1st Half...Once we got the game into a phone booth game, 9-6 in 2nd half, we instantly should have started Running it more. Pound the rock damnit. And even then, Monken would dial up design Stetson runs. Our OL was ready to maul them. One of the weaker Bama fronts the past 15 years. They were worn down and tired to boot. It finally came in the final 8 minutes or so, but felt like 12 minutes too slow.
Yeah that was not a great game for monken. Don't think flea flickers and reverses are going to work here
The flea flicker that Stetson got the grounding on (and effectively killed the drive) after we'd run the ball into Bama territory was so fucking galaxy brained lmao
Also that Ladd Reverse from James Cook. WTF are you doing. Stetson did have Bowers in single coverage on that one flea flicker where he opted to intentional ground it after George Pickens, who played like 25 snaps all year coming into Monday, got the playcall wrong. If we want to whatif plays that could have been a Touchdown; given how accurate Stetson's deep ball was the past 2 weeks.
I think the play of the game for me was Stetson's scramble early where he just dropped the ball out of nowhere but happened to fall on it.
I didn’t understand it at all. We were gashing them with the run. Then didn’t run the rest of that drive or the next one. I was dumbfounded.
it definitely was a growing moment considering the first time he caught the ball he looked like a newborn fawn
I wish he liked his old Coach Helton but he left USC while Helton was there so I highly doubt he would come to statesboro.
Yeah we left the option in 2014 and left the fritz spread option in 2016 and we have been running some bullshit genera spread since 2016 and it's been a disaster. So we hired a mild air-raid guy. We are fucked.
