I agree with that. I liked the concept/story and the production value is solid but the dialogue and acting was extremely cringey at times. The show could use a better showrunner if there is another season. Ortega is so fine.
I've gotten through 7 episodes and just not feeling it. It just can't grab my attention, constantly finding myself wanting to do something else while the show is playing. With all the good TV that is available to watch, I will have to pass on the rest of this series. I really liked the concept but just don't think it's well done.
The reviews are pretty mixed which is why I haven't watched it yet as much as the premise is what I am into.
I’m on episode 4 and even as a big sci fi fan it’s a bit inconsistent. The production value and is high enough and there’s enough sci fi elements to where I’ll probably stick through to the end. I’m not sure what people see in Kinnaman as an actor.
just finished it, it was entertaining. They could have done some things better, but over all I enjoyed it.
We really liked it. It made me want to read the books. The show is a really good adaptation. Excited for S02
Season 2 coming February 27th. https://www.ign.com/articles/altered-carbon-season-2-release-date-netflix-anthony-mackie
new season dropping next week bump. I enjoyed the first season, I need to refresh my memory on everything that happened though. it's been awhile.
Episode 1 was good, but Anthony Mackie doesn't have the charisma or sarcasm of Joel Kinnaman so I'm not enjoying it quite as much so far.
I’m honestly surprised by these takes. I enjoyed S1, but definitely prefer S2. Feels like they were able to tell the story without all the exposition S1 required setting up the universe. And I frankly don’t agree at all about Kinnaman vs. Mackie. I much prefer Mackie as an actor, but I obviously everyone has their preference.
i will give it another shot, a couple of scenes really bothered me but It happened with the first season also. I was surprised but happy that a season two was coming. I thought they would up their game a lot, probably my mistake. i will still watch because I am a sucker for these types of shows/movies. Just wish it was tighter.
I thought S2 was a lot tighter. Like I said, not as much time required for exposition. They also throw a couple interesting twists in the season.
I'm a fan of the world-building aspects of games/movies/shows, I like seeing how things get the way they are. Again, I'm only 1 episode in, i'm looking forward to the rest, glad to hear there are some twists.
I like Mackie overall as an actor. But for this role, Kinnaman is 10x's better. I hope they do a better job casting for season 3.
Cancelled. I haven’t had a chance to watch season 2 yet but it seems like Netflix is getting a little to quick on the trigger with cancellations. A lot of shows power through 1 bad season. I’m starting to have a hard time investing in a lot of their content lately because it seems pointless.
yeah, this sucks. The show was a underwhelming to me but the potential was there. Also hated when they canceled colony
I normally don’t watch a show unless it gets a second season, unless it’s a miniseries, an anthology, or only intended to be one season. Getting to the point with Netflix where I just need to wait and see what the series run will be like before I’ll watch it. Seems to be writers need to accept the fact that unless their show is a smashing success it will get three seasons at max on Netflix.
There’s also not a lot of incentive for Netflix to keep shows around long. It’s the weakness of the no-ads model. Since they don’t have ads, the only way to increase their revenue is to bring in more subscribers. Unless a show is a massive hit, it’s not bringing in more subscribers the longer it runs. Why continue spending money on a show that’s not going to bring in more subscribers?
yeah, I think they are pretty much equal. I enjoyed the first more but probably because I felt like it was a new thing and I was pumped for the potential. After the disappointment of the first season I came in way less enthused for the second
I really loved season one and enjoyed season two. But seems like they cut down on the drugs nudity and excessive violence in the second season. And that made the environment seem less fucked up IMO
