you know when I saw the trial and news (back then) I though wow she seems like such a bitch but after seeing the show I do feel for her. Single mom, messy divorce, press had a field day with her and really with the defense for OJ she was so out matched.
how easy would it be for her to just have lost it at that moment also her boss at least in the show is a real asshole
anyone who watched the trial, do you remember them saying the word nigger on tv? I didn't remember that at all and it was kinda shocking they used it on the show. Loved the bar scene with F Lee used it.
I cringed when at the tapon scene. Maybe it's because I have daughters but I find incredibly fucked up how she is treated solely based on her sex. My fucking God Shapiro is fucking Orange and nothing about his appearance is brought up. On the show like probably in real life Darden is the only remotely likeable individual.
Just started watching yesterday. really enjoying it. Side note: ESPN has a multi-part 30 for 30 coming out on the trial. Those who have seen the first edit says it is the best piece of content Espn has ever produced. Also, actor who plays Cochran was on ESPN radio this week. Said that black people weren't celebrating the fact that OJ got away with murder, they were celebrating that a black attorney won a big case.
I don't think we were celebrating oj got away with murder. We celebrated that another black man didn't get fucked by the system. We saw it as a black man finally being able to do what you white Devils always do ; buy justice.
and...here's 9 hours on youtube of coverage. i don't know if it contains the exchange or not, but if you got 9 hours to spare, have at it
The “Colombian necktie” fax from Dershowitz to Cochran in the courtroom. True. But even better was what was left out of the scene, either for time constraints or to preserve Cochran’s “ringmaster” image: Dershowitz, who may or may not have been teaching at the time of the fax (it’s not mentioned in his book about the trial), sent word that drug cartels sometimes killed in a manner similar to Nicole Brown Simpson’s murder—a “Colombian necktie.” But Cochran got it hilariously wrong in court. He asked Detective Tom Lange, “Have you ever heard of something called a Colombian necklace?”
evan handler (alan dershowitz) was part of the Frogman pilot with OJ simpson mentioned in the episode tonight http://www.vulture.com/2016/02/evan-handler-oj-simpson-frogmen-pilot.html
Saw a clip of it a while ago. F Lee did say it while questioning fuhrman, just like on the episode. But I don't remember if it was bleeped on TV when it originally happened.. Its not bleeped on the youtube clip though
How did they not have Johnnie saying if the glove dont fit you must acquit in last wks ep? I remember that line more than anything else in this whole trial. Seems weird if they will bring it up a wk later. Also, anyone know how real the Darden/Clark love story is?
because he said it in closing arguments and they aren't there yet. iirc Darden came out after the trial as saying they slept together but Clark denied it.
So did they re-cut episodes and take the Kardashians out? Like it was building to this "message" about their vanity or whatever and going out of their way to get them directly involved. ITT there was an quote or something about how the show was going to use them as a vehicle regarding fame or whatever....but now they havent been seen for a couple of weeks. I'm not complaining at all, just something i noticed.
I absolutely loved how Martin and Seinfeld were used to show the racial divide on the jury and then they immediately cut to OJ talking about Seinfeld.
maaaan that hotel scene w/ Clark and Darden was cringe worthy. how you expect to work together after that
I never really cared for Seinfeld. Although most of my hate for it comes from people that feel the need to quote it all the time.
I just can't stand Martin because it's constantly on TV in re-runs because it was a classic show that was vastly ahead of its time..
Scheck's cross of the Criminologist was very well done. That's the part of the trial most forgotten, but he absolutely annihilated him to the point that it took several years after that for anybody to really embrace DNA. It also created the actual map for the jury to follow the LAPD conspiracy angle. It had as much to do with the win as the gloves, as DNA was supposed to be the prosecution's trump card. That handshaking scene actually happened, too. Ironically, Scheck is now the head of the innocence project, which seeks to reverse convictions using new DNA evidence. He also represented Reede Seligman, one of the accused Duke lacrosse players.
He actually loves it. I can see how my post could cause confusion, but the Innocence Project uses new DNA evidence to overturn old convictions.
In fairness that was by far the most acceptable Kardashian appearance thus far. They actually chanted their name in episode 1 or 2. They came a long way.
That's not really a high bar fo dumb shit. I hate complainers. That entire show was people complaining about shit.
