American Crime Story 3.0: Impeachment

I was 8 during the trial, and don't remember that much.

Holy shit at those tapes.

 

Was only 6 when this took place, so I remember nothing

Have read up on the case previously and knew it was wild, but watching it play out on TV is nuts with all the different personalities

Looking forward to next season as well-aftermath of hurricane katrina

Daniel Ocean The part below? I just don't know how you can use that language to describe people and not be racist. I read the LA Times article and it says he may have been rehabilitated in the 80s? Kinda skeptical

to me the blame for the case is 50/50 on Clark and Darden

Clark should have looked into Fuhrman closer and Darden should have never fell for the defense's trap on the glove

but I mean it was the Dream Team vs. a small Eastern European team anyways

 

I mean i dont know the 'real' specifics but no one could have known from 'looking into him' that some screenwriter had those tapes.

I have wondered if the context of 'for a screenplay' fueled the over the top language on fucking tape. But 'for a screenplay' and attempting to explain the context would be a better defense, in theory, than taking the fifth and clamming up. But then again, if with that context, admitting he said it could perjure himself I guess.

 

I mean he was looked into by IA numerous times for racist crimes and such and almost everyone close to the LAPD knew he was up to no good

 

True but at that time wasnt the perception that LAPD in general was up to no good? It wasnt them on trial here (well, it wasnt supposed to be)...they just needed someone in authority to confidently deliver the crime scene testimony.

For them to look into it, the prosecution would have had to predict the 'lets make their witness a racist' strategy. I'm not a lawyer but I can see how that would be tough to forsee when your focus is on the hard evidence.

That was a great mini series. And holy fuck at the ending credits where they showed the actors and the real people. Casting, and Costume and Make up knocked it out of the park. Darden was identical.

 

It did really happen

 

I had no idea they reached a verdict in less than 4 hours. That's crazy. I'm going to have to read one of the books from the jurors now.

At least OJ is in jail now even though it's for a different crime.

 

Next season on American Crime Story is going to be based on Katrina

 

This was the one thing I had no idea about. I read only 9 during the trial, but have read a lot about it so I knew most of it. Before tonight, I would have said they deliberated for weeks. Seems like the demon just said Fuck it and gave in.

 

I absolutely loved that season of TV. It took an amazing story and created amazing tv, which I don't think it's as easy as it sounds. Literally everyone knew how it was going to end, and it kept me enthralled the entire time.

Thought the actor who played Cochran just killed it. He was perfect. And like Truman said, casting and costume did an amazing job.

I remember the first time they showed Ron's dad, I looked at family and we all said the same thing "he looks exactly the same!"

 

Was talking about this with my buddy earlier. He thinks this season might be better then True Detective Season 1. I said that I would still give TD the edge because they came up with their own entire compelling story on their own. He made the good point though that its not easy to recreate a true story and make it good. We've seen it fail plenty of times.

 

And here comes the first of many networks trying to capitalize on the success of the OJ show:

 

This was better than true d in my opinion. I don't think as highly of that show as most (I thought the ending was laughably bad). But I agree with your friend. I think taking a story everyone knows and everyone has thoughts on and making it compelling as they did is extremely impressive.

 

The woman that played the jury foreman played OJ's wife in Naked Gun

 

What a great series. That 4 hour thing is insane. Also loved he final pictures of the victims so your final thought is "oh yeah...this circus was a result of 2 actual people getting butchered"

 

6th grade for me. I remember before the verdict our teacher asked kids to go to one side of the room if you think he's guilty, go to the other side if you think he's not guilty, and stay in middle if you're not sure

All black kids went to one side, all whites to the other, and me and this Egyptian kid stayed in the middle. Neither half of me could choose a side.

 

I can't believe people are shocked that the jurors waited only 4 hours

these are the same people that had been there for a year and were just wanting to go the fuck home at that point and they clearly didnt think the prosecution did a good job selling their point, which they didn't really, and thats why they call the defense team The Dream Team. I mean they drilled their side of the story so much into their head that it became the truth. Not to mention, the jury was majority african american.

 

well when the score was 10-2 and everyone else is giving you the fuck you look we just want to go home, you have to be a pretty damn strong willed person NOT to give in

1. Rodney King and the LAPD
2. Mark Fuhrman
3. The glove
