The movie is really good. This actually doesn't look terrible, so I'll give it a chance for a few weeks
Yeah the woman who played the mom in the movie version was awesome. Definitely could see Ellen Barkin doing well, too.
I still watch the show every week. Currently in season 5 . I thought there was a more active thread but I guess not since I'm subscribed to this one.
It's about like all of the others. Kind of seems like they're running out of ideas but the show keeps going and I've made it this far.
Binge watched the show this spring, it's pretty good. They're definitely throwing everything at the wall at this point but it's still entertaining.
I have flown through this so far. I am on episode 3 of season 5. It's definitely entertaining but also highly flawed like most of the shows from this genre. J in particular sometimes seems like an absolute idiot, and they make him out to be super smart. I am on team idiot with what I have seen so far.
Spoiler You mean you have to do more than cover your face and use different cars in order to get away with robbing 5 banks in 1 day like Pope?
I am team don’t analyze any crime show/movie too much just enjoy the women running. Works here works for outer banks
I’m in season 5. Can’t believe they are repeating one of the worst storylines of the show…Pope dating a woman who has a kid that has been taken from them.
I thought tonight was the series( not season) finale and I was like..how the fuck are they going to do everything in one hour. Season was great.
hopefully them knowing next season is the last they have the time to write a good final season and finale
Spoiler It was certainly an entertaining season finale. So Pete who has tons of muscle and guns willingly agreed to talk to angry Pope with only one armed guy? It's a great show just stuff like that is too dumb to be even halfway believable.
Spoiler no Pete didn’t. jay and pope just showed up. Remember at dinner Craig said “weren’t we going to all go together”. So it doesnt say Pete agreed to meet. He genuinely looks shocked when Jay and Pope show up. Also it’s unknown at least unclear if Pete was aware Pope knew about the drugs.
Spoiler agree with his lack of knowledge of the drugs, until Pope called him out on it, but don’t agree that he agreed to meet. Craig saying what he said was wrt their plan, and I doubt they told Pete they were coming by. I do think it is ridiculous and certainly can’t see Pete backing down.
Spoiler I meant once Pope and Jay showed up at the shop he agreed to talk in the back instead of just pulling a gun and telling them to fuck off or something. IIRC Pete previously said if one of yall show up you don't leave. I know I'm being petty but we usually saw like 5 or so of Pete's crew working now there's only 1 guy. It is what it is, the show can be supremely entertaining other than some of flashbacks.
meant to write “doesn’t say Pete agreed to meet”. Spoiler it was late so maybe that’s why there was only one person. Pope isn’t exactly the kind of guy you pull a gun out and/or tell no. Remember when Craig says why are they having the after job dinner, Daren says “you want to tell Pope no”? If Pete wasn’t aware Pope knew about the drugs there isn’t a reason not to go and talk to him. Remember Pete was confident that Pope was weakened by Smurf being gone. I get what you’re saying but it worked for me to illustrate how nuts Pope is
Overall I liked the last season Spoiler Jay's sociopathy really came out killing Penny, that was rough to see.
Yes, I thought they did a decent job of taking the season before and making it a distant memory, and connecting all of the dots for why and how everything happened. I liked the ending, but would have been happier if they showed Deran's conclusion instead of explaining it. I pretty much assumed it anyway. Also seemed as though they killed off the two characters I would expect to get killed off. Jay and Deran always seemed setup to be the protagonists whereas Pope and Craig were always the chaotic elements.
I must have missed what the explanation for Deren. I hate that Pope went out the way he did. I hate Jay and I know the brothers were bad guys but I hate they were taken out the way they were. Craig getting taken out by a kid for not paying attention was such a cop out. Pope confessing then breaking out? Jay killing his girl showed he wasn’t the good guy he thought he was.
That he helps Craig's baby momma and then goes to live with his ex-boyfriend who takes him back. That was according to one of the showrunners.
Out of curiosity do you have a link for that? On further thinking it’s weird how Craig’s former buddy who overcame drugs/alcohol ultimately went away so quickly, got major undercover cop vibes from him at the start.
they have a video playing. It’s right before the prison bus thing. I don’t understand why J followed the cops even for a bit if he knew was was going to betray them. Why give them any information?
Interesting. They did a very good job in the finale showing Smurf at her worst and largely why Jay hated the family. It's definitely implied that Baz is Jay's father but based on the timeline I guess Baz/Julia were still sleeping together for a while after Smurf kicked her out. Just seemed weird that would've continued after Baz wouldn't even let Julia into his house but whatever.
Just watched the final season...fuck that finale was depressing. None deserved a happy ending but fucking hell that was dark. Agree with the comments saying they did a good job showing why J was what he was and made sure to show Smurf as a complete pos
I’m only on episode 3 of season 2, but the vibes are off on the flirting/smooching between Smurf and her kids/J.
