People misunderstand the Keto diet all the time. It’s not just low carb and high fat. You also have to get sufficient protein and—this is gonna be a shocker—limit your calories. The appeal of this diet—at least for me and many others—is that the high fat helps you stay satiated. People who can gorge on low carb foods and still lose weight are probably very morbidly obese. That’s how I was when I started a few years ago. But eventually, you’ll lose enough weight to where you’ll have to start monitoring what you eat or you won’t lose and may gain. So when people tell me that they are doing Keto but can’t tell me their calorie limit, I know they aren’t really doing it. Butter or coconut oil in coffee isn’t magic.
I personally think thats the most important piece and will definitely help you lose weight. Sugar/carbs in general are just shitty for you. Keto/high fat diets are just very in vogue right now and people like doing the "cool" diet. Plus people will do just about anything to avoid eating better and working out so if they think they have found some way to crack the code and get a shortcut, they will do that
This. I would be willing to bet that 75% of people who claim to be on a keto diet are not in ketosis.
There's definitely to something where you just basically cut out bread, but holy hell that is hard. So much easier to make lunch when all I need to do is throw together a sandwich.
Nice! Congrats dude Ugh dude it definitely sucks. You don't realize how much you love bread and shit until you can't have it.
Lots of people starting drinking strictly tequila from what I have seen. That sounds like my nightmare lol
I did W30 twice this year, the no booze part is the toughest but still doable. Wife has been doing keto most of the year and asked me to do it this month. No alcohol during CFB and NBA is rough
Also, whenever I do drink beer now, I get buzzed really quickly, much more quickly than with liquor. Not sure why, but I’m assuming it has something to do with the carbs/sugar.
I feel like I'll really become an alcoholic if I drink liquor instead of beer. I at least exercise a ton and have lost even a couple of pounds because I started swimming twice instead of once during the week.
A guy I work with is down almost 60 lbs and does this all the time. It’s hilarious seeing him eating meat and cheese all the time but it’s zero carbs so he is hungry all the time but he keeps losing weight.
Yeah its very counterintuitive and goes against the old food pyramid model many people learned in school. I was pretty skeptical but it worked amazingly. I used it to lose weight and now eat a more balanced diet to maintain but it was awesome for the loss.
Try vodka and water or soda. My gf loves adding the Lemonade flavored Mio water flavoring when she makes one and I have to admit they are pretty good. Another buddy has switched to vodka water with the black cherry flavoring. It’s sugar free and he loves it.
I am considering doing it as well. It’s just difficult to eat while on the run. Very few “quick” meals apply to Keto. It takes a little bit more preparing to make it work.
Plus you are hydrating while drinking. I was surprised when I saw all the flavorings. One thing to look for is a lot of them have caffeine in them and to avoid that in the evenings.
Tons of Keto friendly snacks out there. I did it for a week for a quick drop (think 6 pounds) and kept up with some of the snacks like these: Quest Nutrition Protein Tortilla... Just the Cheese Bars, Crunchy... Quest Nutrition Protein Bar, Birthday Cake, 21g Protein, 5g Net Carbs, 180 Cals, 2.1oz Bar, 12 Count, High Protein, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Soy Free
Ha, I put my foot in my mouth Monday when I walked in and asked what the fuck died as I walked into the breakroom to see one of the people eating some sort of fish from a Tupperware dish.
Keto is "in" now because those multi level marketing schemes that women do are selling keto coffee and shit Or at least the wave has hit my friend orbit in the last 6 months or so
secretary for one of the partner is constantly slamming her mouse and keyboard because she is struggling to adjust to our new document management software we instituted in January. She's broken 3 mice this year and it's incredibly distracting to hear her slamming her mouse 1-2 time a day.
Please do me a favor and put a piece of tape under her mouse to cover the laser when she leaves for lunch. I want to see how long it takes her to destroy it.
no joke. she has bad carpel tunnel and needed to replace the keyboard she was using because it was a chord keyboard and the chord wasn't long enough to keep her comfortable at her new desk. Our IT guy ordered her 4+ different ones and each time she said she hated it. Finally he got frustrated and told her to buy whichever one in the world she wanted and that the firm would just reimburse her. Well the day finally comes and the new keyboard arrives. She ordered the same one she had at home and loved. In the process of installing it the IT guy cuts the chord on the old one as a joke to say he finally fixed the problem and made her beloved 10+ year old keyboard wireless. We all laugh but then during the installation of the new one can't get it to connect. She yells at him. WHY IS THIS SO HARD. IT CONNECTS RIGHT AWAY TO MY TABLET. She bought a keyboard that is only compatible with those microsoft tablets. The realization slowly hits that not only does this keyboard not work but the IT guy just cut the chord on the old one. The meltdown was legendary.
I walked in the breakroom yesterday and said it smells like bacon in here and someone was eating chicken :(
Listen soy boy, I'm trying my best! But seriously I believe both Quest products are soy free according to the nutritional facts along with the Amazon description. Believe the same for the cheese bars.
All right boys have at the diet talk: https://www.the-mainboard.com/index...ving-thread-whole30-compliant-in-2018.120334/
Kid on one of my teams just joined the firm straight out of Duke business school - if you'd like to hear about how awesome Fuqua is, or all of the awesome stuff he did while at Fuqua, please don't hesitate to reach out.
If you get a chance maybe find out how it stacks up to UNC Flagler Business School and Wake Forest MBA?
No lie quote from him at a team dinner a couple weeks ago "I had friends that went to Stanford for business school that tell me how jealous they were of all the cool things we were doing at Fuqua."
Wait are we including UNC Flagler online MBA in this too? Because it's just as good as going there in person...
It sounds strange, but butter isn’t much different than cream, so putting it in coffee isn’t THAT strange
