Speaking of flooding, came home from my bachelor party yesterday to a basement full of water. My body was not ready to handle that.
Went to Shagbark for dinner last week, thoroughly enjoyed it. It's in the new Libbie Mill development near Staples Mill/Broad St. The chef is the former Executive Chef from Lemaire (The Jefferson's restaurant). It's your typical farm-to-table/heavy emphasis on local ingredients type restaurant. We had some oysters and the pork belly for apps and I had the swordfish which was delicious. The pork chop and pasta special looked phenomenal as well. It's definitely pretty , but well worth it.
Talked to one of my coworkers in Wilsons who had 14+. I'm sure it's spotty but sounds like south central got it bad.
Yeah. We basically doubled our expected amounts. Still coming down, with 12" already. Power is on, thankfully.
15” in Roanoke. Not sure what we got in Blacksburg but it was probably close. Somehow still went into the office and Wendy’s was open. Petty cool day. Love driving in the snow.
My parents in Roanoke got a ton, girlfriends parents in Cville got a good amount, it didn’t even snow a flake in DC. Really weird, can’t remember the last time that happened.
Yes we did. 14 inches where I am. Parents in Lynchburg said they probably got about the same, they last measured when it was 12 but it was still snowing.
My office is closed (would’ve worked remotely anyway) but my wife has to go in. Digging the car out and driving her should be fun. But at least I get play red dead all day now
Went to Perch in Scotts Addition for lunch yesterday. It's a bit pricey, but really good food and a cool menu. Wasn't busy at all, and the chef/owner Mike came over and talked to us for a bit. Really neat space, excited to go back for dinner sometime.
Anyone in the Southside missing their Bobcat?? https://richmond.craigslist.org/laf/d/richmond-update-found-cat-need-owners/6881185958.html **UPDATE** FOUND CAT - NEED OWNERS ASAP!! image 9 of 11 © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap (google map) UPDATE: thank you to everyone who told me this is actually a WILD BOBCAT!!! Wtf!!! No wonder he was so grumpy!! I kidnapped him!! I am not from America and have never heard of bobcat, I thought all wild cats are much bigger than that!! I can not believe I brought it inside!! And he pissed all over my damn house so now I have to deep clean everything !! well Anyway I am glad at least he is okay and not a lost cat. I have let him go already back near the trees where he came from, and he was not hurt or injured at all so do not worry!! I am also okay, no bites or scratches!! (Just pee ) And if you are one of the people who told me nicely out of concern, thank you and have a nice day!! If you Are one of the people who was rude to me and tried to mock me for not knowing, you can have a bad day!!( maybeif he comes back I’ll send him ur way )Bye bye! FOUND cat last night was stuck in between my fence screaming it’s head off. i brought it inside because it looks too big and healthy for a stray and dogs here escape often and will eat cats that get out. it is very thick and has little stripes and spots on its legs and big white round spots on the back of its ears, only thing that looks wrong with him is he doesn’t have a tail but it doesn’t seem like anything new. He is very vocal ( and mean!!!!) I think he is a tabby and bengals mix maybe some Maine coon because he is just so big and chubby. i took most of these pics last night so the lighting makes him look brown but he is actually more gray. He was very hungry. please if u r his owner contact me ASAP i can not keep him here because as cute as he is, he is CRAZY and has gotten into everything in the house in 1 night and is EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE!! Even though I am almost sure this is someoneones pet unfortunately if no one contacts me soon enough I will have to take him to a shelter. By Sunday night most likely I will have to take him in. Almost lost my fingers this morning trying to pet him. Has been growling and hissing and calling all morning He is just a big grouch. https://thefriedegg.com/belmont-golf-course-lease-renovation/ "Last night, Henrico County’s Parks and Recreation department approved a plan to lease Belmont Golf Course at $1 per year for the next 30 years. The county plans to release a request for proposals (RFP) by late August, with submissions due at the end of October. A new management group will take over on January 1, 2020. On top of the $1/year lease, Henrico County has reserved $750,000 for a bunker renovation and a general restoration project for the course." Cautiously optimistic at this point, but at least it's not going to be turned into another dog park.
I miss good ol Belmont. That place and that cheap one out in Goochland near Bogies (can’t come up with the name right now) were always my go to early season confidence boosting courses when I lived in Richmond.
Sycamore Creek. IDK what they've done to their greens (not that they were ever that great), but literally every putt on that golf course is straight at the hole. There is almost no break whatsoever
I’m in a Monday night twilight league at Belmont with a few buddies. 9 holes and you take the best two scores from your group on each hole to get an 18 hole score. Course is in pretty good condition except the bunkers are completely unplayable and mostly filled with rocks. It has so much potential if operated effectively. Just glad it’s sticking around
their Nashville style chicken biscuit with sausage gravy and egg is one of the better breakfast items you can get in the city
Has anyone been to Bacchus for dinner before? Looking for a new date spot/switch it up from the usual (Edo's, Joe's Inn, etc.) I've heard good things.
Dukes and any other RVA ppl - Any of ya'll know people in the local craft beer/brewery scene? I've made an effort to order some beers and merch from Triple Crossing the past few weeks, and they seem to be doing OK, but I'm curious how the rest of them are holding up. Majority of them have to be bleeding out right now, right?
I don’t know anyone working in the industry but I’m guessing a lot of them are struggling. I’ve ordered twice from Triple Crossing and Final Gravity since those are the two I go to the most. They both seem to be doing pretty good with to-go and delivery orders.
The Veil is shipping. I think they're doing ok. I do think they spread themselves too thin financially with the 2 new locations before this though.
my sister is an investor with Buskey Cider and they’ve gotten to know a few folks from Triple Crossing and Final Gravity. she’s been posting updates and ads for Buskey daily, trying to get some business their way. not sure how its going exactly other than this info.
Anyone still in city limits? I know we have some county folks but I’m interested if anyone has compelling thoughts about the mayoral race. All seem like shit candidates....I should run tbh
I am in a group chat with all my fiends who live in Richmond 75% in the city. What I’ve gathered when they talked about it is that they would like to vote Alexis Rodgers, but with the way the race works (winning districts) they didn’t know of that would hurt the Dem vote and possibly give Kim Grey a shot. They don’t like Stoney, but def don’t want it going Red.
Headed up to Richmond for thanksgiving. Will be there Tuesday - Sunday and would like to hit up a couple breweries (assuming it’s safe) if at all possible, maybe that Wednesday or Saturday. Any suggestions will be appreciated and possibly acted upon.
not a local, things may have changed. also i like IPAs, so that's all i've tried. final gravity was my favorite, then triple crossing.
