Technical writer? When I left journo work, I made serious consideration to moving into that but thought it might be soul-crushing.
Nah. I was a journalism major who dreamed of being a sportswriter. Summer before senior year, I got an internship at a daily newspaper…and realized spending every night eating a hot dog in a press box or covering high school football was not for me. After graduation, I fell into a corporate PR career that always had heavy writing components. Ultimately left corporate America about five years ago to open my own comms shop and do content creation and PR. In terms of content, most of it is creative (features, blog, web content), but I do have to slog my way through the occasional SEO-heavy gig. Likely heading back to a corporate comms job sooner than later for lots of different reasons.
Ha! That time period was actually when my blood feud with Clay Travis started. He plagiarized a friend of mine.
I dabble in poetry as well. Would you mind sharing the one I penned in the hilary duff thread with your wife? No offense to the board, but I find that it takes an artist to really appreciate the nuances of our work. Spoiler
