Way different than the past games. First person viewpoint. Almost has a Silent Hill feel to it. Spoiler the mannequins in Silent Hill always creeped me out, so when you go upstairs in the abandoned farm house and there's 3 mannequins up there facing the wall I was like "Oh goddamit." Then after you look around upstairs and head back toward the staircase and find all 3 now turned towards you plus a fourth one at the top of the stairs, I was like "Oh fuuucckk you!"
but i have a question. does the biohazard subtitle imply that this isn't a main series title or what? i don't really get what's going on with this game tbh.
The demo was bad and hardly an original idea. The last time capcom changed up the game mechanics in RE it resulted in one of the better games ever made and laid the groundwork for all third person shooters that followed. This time it's just looking luke they're gonna dick ride the new movement of survival horror where all your do is hide.
Yea I looked at the images of the demo and quickly noped on out of there. I have no interest in spending my free time shitting myself.
Resident Evil has been a franchise that has changed a few times throughout its history and for the most part has been good, but I'm pretty skeptical right now.
I enjoyed the demo (not VR), creepy as shit, very atmospheric. I liked how you could "play" within the VCR tape. Overall i like the direction it seemed to be taking, will likely borrow it from a friend after it comes out to play through it. Hoping it doesn't end up being a hide and seek like lazytweaker said.
After seeing more of the finished product I am VERY excited about this game. It looks like they are blending the hide and seek aspects from Outlast but not making it essential to gameplay. You can defend yourself but much like earlier versions of RE recourses are limited and you have to decide if it's gonna be the best move to waste ammo on enemies or conserve it by making an escape. It really seems like the perfect way to get back to true survival horror while painting it with a more modern brush
Getting pretty good reviews. I feel like its going to spawn a lot of love or hate feelings in people. Very different than traditional RE games, but i feel like this is what it needed to be. Glad to see it went first-person, makes it way creepier.
Been reading up this morning and I'm intrigued. Will probably wait till it's a 19.99 buy or something though
Played 2 hours and the puzzles are really enjoyable. Good times with all the lights turned out and a surround pair of headphones. Will probably take me away from COD for a while.
don't intend to buy it because i don't play horror games but i do enjoy watching them. currently keeping up with a couple LPs and watched a couple of streamers. i've never played/watched any of the first few RE games but have played 4/5/6 so i'm not sure how it compares to them. it is definitely nothing like 4/5/6. closer to a AAA release by Frictional Games than anything really. very much enjoyed it.
Yea i watched a guy stream it and he took his time getting ammo etc. and i think it took him like 15 hours. i heard someone finished it in like 8.
Just finished it in 8 hours. A little bit of a bummer on the length as everyone has said, but a great game. Ending wasn't expected.
will be interested to know how it is in VR, seems like a winner as the horror should be more immersive that way
hard part about a game like that is replayability is tough since the jump scares are predictable and less effective after the firs time. From watching it streamed, seems like the action and controls are good though.
No kidding. I actually played through it again and finished it in just over 4 hours. Spoilers regarding the ending: Spoiler Very surprised to see towards the end that Lucas was actually cured.
For those have beat it on normal the madhouse difficulty you unlock is how the game should be played , it is apparently a much harder completely different experience limited saves, harder enemies earlier in the game, and other small changes to throw off boss battles .
