The tourneys I'm in are handling the money offline through Venmo.

We're just doing the home games, so unless someone in the group has figured out how to spam the software, it seems fine.

Tons of people complaining about losing on the turn and river. Claiming the algorithms are tuned to improve action and give good outs to other players in this instances. I assume that's paranoid BS but wanted to ask someone's opinion first.

I mean, it happens. I'm not sure it's that different than playing games in real life though. I'll put it this way...I don't feel like there's an incentive to go fishing because you're more likely to hit or anything.

I’ve played a couple nights on poker stars home games. We use zoom and Venmo. It’s always a sit n go tourney for $10-20 entry as you can get games in pretty quick. I’ve won a couple of them which is fine by me.

I think that's the difference cash vs tourney too. In a tourney I'm more inclined to shove and end it whereas cash i always feel like "that's my moment" and i should focus on extracting value. In cash you're only gonna see so many great hands but tourney the blinds are gonna move the action and i feel like more opportunities abound. Of course i tend to be on the shorter stack side in tourneys so maybe i need to be more focused on maximizing value in that arena too ...

Last year from July on i played more live poker than ever before and saw tons of nasty beats. Getting back in to the online scene now my perception of that stuff is that it's all in the game yo. My primary concern when it comes to the internet is stuff like bots/collusion and in general the fact that's it's unregulated. But from what i have gathered that's primarily a concern if you're playing cash. At least on ACR it feels like any other MTT that I've done live ...

Looking to get back on pokerstars free games, play some sit n goes with some old high school friends. Venmo said monies afterward, I'm starting to like this idea.

Not that it would have mattered because it sounds like the guy that called you is a complete whale just looking to gamble no matter what, but you should have shoved all-in preflop when it came back around to you. You are giving the dude good odds to draw on you when you reraise like that at your stack size.

If you play short like that, your 4-bet sizing should be all-in. If you have a full stack and your opponent is short-stacked like you are, your 4-bet sizing should be all-in.

Even if you flop a set in that same scenario, you have given your opponent a +EV play to draw out on you.

then again, i've already shoved KK in to AA twice in the first 50 hands of a 6-max MTT ... so maybe this internet thing is BS? :idk:

    Anyone watch the Galfond challenge?

Phil Galfond offered anyone in the world the opportunity to play him in 25k hands of pot limit PLO and laid 2:1 odds on a $109.5k sidebet for the overall challenge win.

His first challenge he was down $1.05 million at one point (48.5k buyins), he considered quitting and paying out the $219k sidebet along with other penalties for quitting. Instead he opted to continue playing, noting that it was probably impossible for him to come back, and instead hoped to only lose by $500k or so.

He somehow rallied back and won a pot after 24,927 hands to officially win the challenge. At the end of the day he won by just about $1,300 dollars with the $109.5k on top.

Definitely one of the craziest things I've seen in poker.

Veni Vidi was his first opponent.

His second opponent is Bill Perkins, which should be an absolute slaughter.

Then there are probably 4-5 more lined up after that. I think he's playing Jungleman, Brandon Adams, Chance Kornuth, and maybe Luke Schwartz, though I kinda doubt that one happens.

Either way he's going to be playing a ton of poker this year.

The Perkins-Galfond challenge should start up in the next week or two.

Btw, those who played online with my club or looking for online, we’ve moved to PokerBros as part of a union with pretty tremendous action; tourneys with 2k runners and $15 buyins for like $40k first prizes and lots of cash game action; dblplay1212 can vouch. Anybody interested, shoot me a PM.

Unbelievable. The man knows not of rest.

He's starting the second challenge today, at 1 PM Central against Bill Perkins.

    50k hands with a 400k stop-loss.

Phil is even odds to end the match within 7k hands lol

Been playing on ACR while working from home. Built up a very nice bankroll. Then the algorithms decided I shouldn’t win anymore. Knew I should have left the table when every other hand was a pocket pair. Had AA 5 times on two orbits. Raise and fold on the first 2. Third time there’s a raise in early position, I reraise on button, early position goes all in with KK. Spikes a K. Buy back in. Next hand get AA again with no action. Two hands later get them again and someone goes all in pre with QQ and hits a set. Come back the next day and get it all in with set over set my 99 against his 22 and he rivers quads. Have around $30 left after having built up a nice bankroll. I’m still hesitating on online poker with the algorithms these companies use.

i'm having a good week in the micro stakes MTTs on ACR, up about $80 but closer to binking. i have had some weird orbits for sure but most of the time it's about what i expect from a fishy poker tournament. find some deeper structures on there and you will be aight. i just don't plan on putting up any significant buy ins or playing 1/2+ cash ...

Both. FT’d two final tables this week, but also got a pretty big chunk from .50/1 PLO and $1 OFC. The OFC games on there are soufflé soft.

For some reason it calculates a “buyin” for every time you sit at a table, whether tourney or cash games; for example, if I sit at a .50/1 PLO game, get up and come back later, I’ve “bought in” for $200 even if I won or didn’t even play a hand.

True, though I don't mind the larger fields, ultimately that is what gets the prize pool up there. The turbo blind structure can be a bit gamblish later in the tourney. Though it would be nice to ship $30K one of these nights.

Main reason I left was in the course of about an hour session. I lost to quads 3 times with set over set and my opponent hitting quads on the river. After that I started seeing a lot twitter posts on the site being messed up with things like that, people not being able to see cards on the board, having the same cards with the same suit on boards, etc.
