Found it. Had to do a reset to get some older videos to play. Kicked my cards out of the wallet. Even though I had my boarding passes in the wallet, it was not recognizing the wallet being available because the cards were removed. Weird.
Trying to order the 11 for my girlfriend but this is a little different from when I upgrade for my own account/device. I'm in the Apple Store on my phone and have it in my cart. It's asking if I want to choose a carrier or "activate with any carrier later." She has Verizon and has no intentions of changing that, so I assume it's fine to just select Verizon. Anyway, I did that and then continued through to where I could pay. But before I got there it took me to a screen about choosing when to activate the new phone. The first option was to activate now by entering in account info and all that shit. Obviously I'm not doing that. The second option is to activate with your carrier later. Obviously that's the one I want to go with, but it says when you receive the phone she will need to "insert an active sim card or contact your carrier." I've never had to do anything with a sim card and it's always been a matter of simply calling some number through Verizon and activating. I'm mailing the phone to her and don't want her to have to go through all that shit with the sim card. Is she going to have to if I do it this way? Edit; nvm found my answer
I really don't like the update. I especially hate how it keeps shoving Apple Pay and the Apple keyboard down my throat. But I also don't like change so that likely has something to do with it.

My biggest issue is moving the cursor in ios13. I’m so trained to hold down for a magnifying glass and that’s fine so I end up selecting words. But also the magnifying glass was clutch as my finger is blocking the cursor so i have no clue where I’m moving it to

It keeps sending me messages saying my iPhone isn't completely set up. With the keyboard, I've used the Google Board for years now. It constantly switches me back to the Apple keyboard and keeps trying to have me create a bit emoji thing. Also, how were y'all suggesting to move a curser to a specific letter? I'm also getting stuck constantly clicking the entire word and not just a letter.

I got the new phone recently and something fucked up on the transfer. My contacts like quadrupled and some of my pics formed duplicates as well. Now some contacts are merging with each other somehow too. Any easy way to clean this up? We did the transfer starting by iCloud, but that was taking forever so we just used to Verizon app
On Gboard, you scroll across the spacebar with your finger, can only go left and right. On Apple Keyboard, you long press on the space bar and move the cursor around like it’s a mouse pointer
I was talking out loud yesterday about next year’s iPhone. I had been operating under the idea of waiting for them to come out with a 5G compatible model, but won’t Apple more than likely just do an incremental (eg 11s, 11s pro, etc) increase? On the X now and it isn’t terrible, a liiight screen scratch or two.
If you have recent iCloud backup. Clear and restore phone and try it again. Be on a strong WiFi signal. The data should be quick. The app redownload is what can take awhile
true but it can make it a pain in the ass when trying to return something because the physical card number is different than the one you use to pay with through apple pay. Dealing with this nightmare right now with trying to return that apple watch I bought

The 2019 ones are the incremental upgrades. The 2020 ones are going to be big upgrades, at least in terms of design and 5G. Have no idea what else is in the works.
Dell now has a native app called mobile connect that allows you to get all notifications, including text(and responding), via Bluetooth connection.
Next dumb question, in a text chain, when I go to the "info" page, is there a way to delete multiple pictures or links at once or does it all have to be individually?
Still takes memory on the phone. I bought software called iMazing that will make a complete local backup but then it will save iMessage or WhatsApp text threads into a PDF. Then you can delete it on your phone
What a convoluted workaround. Your phone also moves old messages and attachments to iCloud and off your local device.
Explain this. I don’t see it removing messages from my device. Or does it start doing that if I’m running out of storage?
Dunno if there’s a specific setting, but I have 14GB of message data in iCloud and only 2.6GB on my phone. It probably does it automatically if you enable iMessage sync under your iCloud settings.
Just hold down on a picture or text until copy, save, more pops up...click more then you can select all the text you want to delete....
This only works for the actual text, not attached pictures. "More" isn't an option when you hold on a picture but it definitely used to be. You can scroll through the text and multi-select them but you used to be able to do it from the attachments screen, which is way easier for a conversation with tons of images.
What do you mean by attached pictures? If I take a picture and send it to the wife, is that an attached picture? I just woke up so I’m a little slow...
yes. You can scroll the text conversation and see all of the pictures amongst the texts. But from a text convo, you can also tap the contact’s name, go to Info, and it will show you all of the attachments to that conversation all together. You used to be able to delete these in bulk by tapping and holding and selecting multiple like you do texts.
