This may shock you but there are other devices out there that have iOS apps to control them and the Apple TV isn’t the only device that has a remote. There’s nothing about the apple remote app that would make an iPhone gain the benefits of a true dedicated remote. I’ve also listened to enough ATP to know that the current remote design is lacking.
One complaint I’ve heard is that the touch surface is too sensitive and/or is too easy to accidentally graze. Also that there isn’t enough distinction from where a button ends and the housing begins.
right, bc it's sending an IR frequency to the tv and a bluetooth signal to your apple tv simultaneously
wrong. As Jeff said, this is a feature of HDMI. Your device sends a signal to the TV saying "hey i'm sending you some shit, pay attention" and your TV responds accordingly.
Wrong. ARC is audio return channel. It allows a single HDMI connection to send audio data in both directions. It’s how you set up a sound bar on like HDMI-1 that will play audio from your Apple TV on HDMI-3 without using a separate optical cable. Typically a TV will have only one ARC port. I think if you buy any modern HDMI cable it should support CEC. Basically all of the cables I have work, and I just buy like amazon basics cables.
Wife got me the AirPod pros for Christmas but they were on backorder so just got them a few days ago. The noise cancellation is the truth. Love em.
this is all correct, I didn’t mean to imply that the actual cable mattered. Just the actual slot you set it up with.
HDMI-CEC will be on every HDMI port while HDMI-ARC is usually one port. Anyways I’m probably just being overly pedantic.
Love amazon fire tv. Hidden. Remote is simple and easy. Includes speech which works great. I hate typing a search. Never owned Apple TV. Won’t.
Not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but is there a way I can clear “cache” to open up storage on my iPhone without deleting/redownloading the apps
Nope. Like mentioned before, soap and salt are the most hazardous substances to the seal on the watch. I try and avoid wearing it in those situations.
Girlfriend/wife gift $100 off gold/pink small watch series 5 https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/533297
I have had the series 2 for over three years now and I’ve never taken it off to shower. Still working perfectly.
iPad pro with it as a replacement for a 10 year old mack book pro and to use for baby apps, streaming, house apps, etc. We only used the MacBook as a picture storage and some.very minor Excel work
Are the AirPod pros worth it? Thinking of putting an order in. Currently backordered like four weeks.
Just bought mine saturday. The wife wanted to upgrade our phones, I’m fine with my 8-plus, so I traded just upgrading her phone, for me getting the Pros. Just landed from my first flight with them. They’re not elite-tier, sound-wise, but they’re reeeeally good. The noise canceling kills the ambient noise of a plane really well but even with the volume turned up considerably, you can still hear the audio of announcements. You’re not going to cancel that with any in-ear though. I definitely consider them worth it if you use headphones enough.
I’d be nervous having something that expensive and big/heavy near the kid. I would consider the regular iPad. I’ve never done Excel work on an iPad but I imagine it would be a pain (to me) without a mouse. Obviously you’d get a keyboard for it.
Never had Airpods before. Considering ordering the Pros but I'm a little worried about them staying in while at the gym. I'm gonna decide tomorrow sometime but leaning toward buying them. Currently have the Powerbeats 2 which wrap around the ear, so never had to worry about them falling out.
I’ve never had a discussion with anyone about this but have always been curious. Even with the ear wrapping ones, do you find yourself having to reseat your buds for maximum sound?
With the ear-wrapping Powerbeats 2 I don't even have to touch them after putting them in when I get to the gym. They really don't seem to move at all and I've had no issues whether doing cardio stuff or lifting.
The Pros should fit better than the regular ones. If you’re gonna spend the money on AirPods then I would spend the extra for the Pro.
Same question to anyone that owns the Pros. I've tried different tips but they definitely lose the seal that makes noise canceling effective during any sort of activity outside of just walking.
depends on your intended use. If its 100% gym. I’d get Powerbeats pro. i still find myself pressing in my AirPod pros to get them reseated. noise cancelling at the gym is surreal tho. Music with minimal gym noise. Takes getting used to but easy to focus on your workout.
I just ordered the PowerBeats Pro. Intended use is almost entirely going to be at the gym. I may look into the Airpods Pro eventually as something to use at work and other non-gym places.
I’m an admitted Apple fan boy but I have trouble believing I would like any other headphones more than I like my pro’s.
I was doing decline bench and they kept wanting to pop out. My first complaint with the Pros other than I dont like wearing them for more than 2hrs straight.
This was news to me, but Apple gives 10% military discount. You have to buy through the Apple site and it works for phones.
Really enjoying the PowerBeats so far. Great sound quality and they seem perfect for the gym. Seems like the bass may have been toned down a bit compared to some of the other Beats I've used. A little weird that they can't be charged without the carrying case (which could be smaller), but that's a fairly minor gripe.
My only real issue with them has to do with incoming text messages. On my old Beats, you would just hear the alert like normal. I don't like with these how you either have to enable Siri to read the message as soon as it comes in or you don't get any alert
