We moved earlier this month and somehow I lost my 2021 Macbook Pro (14 inch) charger. I've charged it with my knock-off USB C iphone charger and two hours charging only got it to like 20%. I decided I want a brand new charger similar to the one that came with it when I first got it. It appears to be $99 on Apple's website and I do not want to pay that much. I also don't want to deal with some shitty Dollar General charger that is going to break after two days. The Apple website has 140w and 96w adapters but I don't know if it really matters. Are there any reliable ones that anyone's bought?
The Apple USB-C charge cable supports up to 100W, so any 100W or above charging block should work. Under 100W ones will work too, they’ll just be slower. Example: https://a.co/d/b9JEhv8 Or for slightly more: https://a.co/d/gGM22Je
Generally Anker makes good products but I would avoid going cheap on something like a power supply. The power supply and battery are the two fire hazards with computers.
Is a $40 Anker in this instance considered cheap? Looks like the 96w from Apple is 79. https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...ger&fh=4595%2B22335b%2B45d4%2B2e7837%2Bfd3bbd
I keep an old dell usb-c charger from a previous employer in my basement that I use sometimes and it works well.
I’m not really sure as I haven’t looked around at laptop power supplies. Like I said, Anker is generally good quality (basically all my chargers and cables are Anker) so you’re probably fine.
Anker is typically quite good. Also this isn’t a 1000W power supply. It’s a 100W charging block. Don’t overthink it.
this is what your computer came with so based it off of that 67W USB-C Power Adapter (included with M1 Pro with 8-core CPU) 96W USB-C Power Adapter (included with M1 Pro with 10-core CPU or M1 Max, configurable with M1 Pro with 8-core CPU)
Anker isn't cheap quality. Other quality third-party brands would be UGREEN and Sharge (formerly Shargeek)
Anker is good but I’d order it from Amazon instead of their website unless you know exactly what you want. Their return policy is hella stupid.
Got the Anker 150w charger with the split usb c smart cord very happy with it and anker had a good sell.
My kids new ipad air has a stuck power button. Guess I'll be going into town for a repair. Would you guys trust best buy to work on your shit or just go to nearest apple store?
Best Buy is a certified Apple repair place so it should be the same as taking it to Apple. But if I have a choice I’m taking it to n Apple Store.
Does Apple make a USB-A to USB-C cord? I’m going to need to upgrade my iPhone soon but don’t see one on their website. I need it for CarPlay and other random situations when traveling. If no any that you guys would recommend?
cord no, but they make an adapter https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...a653e05443f64f90d9796310439472f6091fc423b9335 mono-price sells cables https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24287
I’ve used this adapter Syntech USB C Female to USB Male... With this cable for 6 mo with no issues. JSAUX 100W USB C to USB C Charger...
I’m picking up the 14 this afternoon and am upgrading from the 13 mini. Didn’t feel like dealing with the cords and after trade in it’s only going to “cost” me $56 which includes a case. There is a deal with American Express right now where it’s 47kish points for a $500 apple gift card. Normally it’s 58k points. Had the 12 mini before the 13 mini so going to be weird going back to a normal sized phone again. I also hate that I have to make an appointment to go pick it up.
Any ideas for my AirPod pros that suddenly stopped working. Have never had one issue with them and a couple weeks ago they stopped charging, synching, nada. Tried resetting in the case to no avail. I’m not sure what else to do (I’ll have to drive an hour+ to the closest Apple Store, trying to avoid).
Best bet is to use a qtip with a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts in the case then just leave the fuckers charging for a few days and see if it works. Also sometimes my third party ear tips mess with how the earbuds sit in the case and it won’t charge.
I can’t send, and seemingly receive, texts to/from non-iPhone users. I’ve reset my network settings and still nothing. Any ideas?
Normally, I agree. But I can’t log into my DraftKings account and I can’t receive the text messages to verify my account and now I’m About to cry.
With the iPhone 16 announcement and all the new software stuff being exclusive to the new models and the pros from last year, I feel like Apple told me to fuck off for buying the base iPhone 15 last year…
It wasn’t a matter of cheap. I didn’t want the larger screen and had no use for what the pros offered over and above the 15. If I had known that Apple was going to uncharacteristically make a one-year-old model almost completely obsolete I wouldn’t have bought it to begin with and just held out for the 16.
Now like the Apple Watch is a perfect example. Last time I bought one I got the SE because all the extra sensors and stuff were useless for me. Now the new one will have sleep apnea detection. See now that is worth paying extra for. I’ve long suspected I have it, but my insurance won’t cover the testing for it, and that test will run me over $1K. This sleep apnea detection sounds like it’s about to get FDA approval and it will cost me less than $400 after trade-in and I get a whole damn watch out of it. I’m not just going to hand over more money just for the hell of it, you’ve got to give me something that’s of value to me to get that extra money. Like even this iPhone 16, the only thing it’s adding relative to my iPhone 15 that’s of any added value for me is the Apple Intelligence stuff. If I would have gotten one of the Pros last year I wouldn’t have any desire at all for any of the 16 models.
Apple AI isn’t even going to come out until like halfway through the life cycle of the 16 so I guess the 16 is obsolete
Apple Watch SE2 can barely hold a charge anymore. Was at 100% when I woke up the last three mornings and couldn’t even make it through to mid afternoon before it was down to 30-20% charge so pre-ordered one the the series 10 watches
