Editing the pictures is cool but nothing else has really proven useful. The notification summaries is actually a step backward imo
I can’t use email summary bc of work, but the text summary sucks. The AI seems to focus on random words not at the heart of the text and then use that as the summary. No idea why’d they release it at this stage except for they said they would so they did
Have done this fairly strictly for my XS Max, and it still has 81% battery health (use it a lot throughout the day). I also shut it down once every few days for an hour or two, so I’m sure that helps.
The new Mac Mini is an absolute incredible deal at $599. M4 16GB RAM 256GB storage Still can’t believe they are putting the power button ON THE BOTTOM backside of the machine though. Like you could you put it in an any more of an inconvenient position?
Just went from XS Max to 16 Pro Max. It’s a big difference but damn life has gotten expensive. I now use my XS on WiFi for doom scrolling TMB in the evening. This should keep the new phone’s battery from cycling less throughout the week.
Anyone else having Bluetooth issues on iOS 18.1? (iPhone 16 pro) music has a stuttering effect when playing in my car
It definitely is, but for the first time in 20 years I don’t have a work issued phone but am still expected to be on call. I’m trying this as an experiment (using a new iPad I got for free and an older device) because my XS’s battery was disappointing after a little more than a year of ownership. I’ll get sick of it soon enough.
Actually, yes. All I’ve figured is if I leave my phone face up in the car or even on its side in the slot in the console then Siri thinks I’m trying to talk to it. If I leave it in my pocket or put it screen side down in the passenger seat it stops which is odd but it is repeatable.
Does anyone have an ipad keyboard they recommend? Will be using with an ipad 10th generation, if it makes any difference
Got the new Mac Mini, an upgrade from the last Intel Mac Mini that came out in 2018. My goodness what an upgrade this is.
I used to have an iPad until about 5 years ago but stopped using it because honestly my MacBook does everything and more. The only thing I miss about it is the ability to download movies and shows but have been thinking about getting one just don’t know if it’s worth it. Is the Pro worth it? How well do Microsoft office products work on it? Any thing else that I might not know about?
I don't know how much work you guys are going to do on them, but the Air's are really nice. I did a lot of comparisons last year before buying one and I've been very happy with it.
I like my pro iPad. Idk about Microsoft office - but it runs the medical software I need and I can watch YouTube tv on the pop out screen while I do work, and text etc. split screen. I got the smaller size and I use it more than my laptop
Which MS Office products? Why don’t you try Office on your iPhone first? Outlook is great. Excel and Word are decent but don’t expect a similar experience to those apps on a desktop. I was marking up a document in Word the other night on my iPad and could not find the Track Changes feature. Not sure the iPad app has that.
Can I run a teams meeting from it while sharing a one note that I’m editing? edit: and then can I save said one note page as a PDF and email it out. I could switch to word for that if needed but would prefer to keep it in one note
I wear one AirPod pro in my left ear while at the house and walking around. I’ve always been able to switch it from transparent to noise cancelling until recently. Figured out a work around in accessibility, where you can enable one ear noise cancelling but now that just randomly turns off. It’s great.
My M1 still does all the Lightroom and Photoshop stuff I need (I don’t do video). Apple silicon chips changed the game for the better and anyone who says “what has Apple done lately” hasn’t tried doing something on an Intel machine then gone home to a silicon machine that cost 75% less that does more.
Apple M chips really are a game changer. I converted a 2-hour long 4K mkv file to an mp4. Something that would have had the fan on my 2018 Intel Mac Mini would running a million miles a second as soon as the conversion started. I briefly barely heard the fan running on the M4 Mac Mini.
Any recs for a dual 27” monitor setup for my studio Mac? I have a LG wide monitor that blows and I have no idea what I’m doing looking for monitors. - I don’t game - 95% of the time I’m in Excel or typing/editing legal documents, email or tmb - current monitor makes my eyes tired after an hour or so. My monitors at the office don’t have this issue
Anyone have an iPad mini? It looks like the new generation is better hardware wise than the iPad 10 and I'm not sure if want to pay for air or pro given what i use it for. My old iPad isn't supported for updates anymore and the app i use for work sometimes no longer works without an update. I really don't do any heavy lifting on it, mostly going to be throwing documents and some video on it to review in bed / traveling while working where I don't want to haul my laptop around.
So I have weird question/issue. TMB is painfully slow, but only on safari. And it’s the only website I have issues with. The site works perfectly on chrome (which I’m using now). Anyone else ever have this issue? I’ve cleared my cache and history. Thoughts?
safari>Settings>privacy>manage website data search for the site and only delete the site specific ones then safari>clear history for the last hour (so you don’t lose other stuff)
I should have added that this is only true if you have iCloud+. I always forget that part. But if you are, then Private Relay is turned on by default. You can always turn it off if your internet starts acting weird though. If you don’t have iCloud+, then clear your cache and internet history like afb said, but you had said you already did that in your post.
Fyi for potential future knowledge. deleting texts on your iPhone does NOT delete them from your iPad.
that depends on if you use iCloud for syncing texts if you do, it'll ask you if you want to remove from all devices
Missed phone call notifications disappear for no reason which is highly annoying as it’s my reminder to call back whoever I couldn’t answer for. Is this a known issue?
Opened this thread thinking it was about the streaming service and hoping there would be some show recs…anybody else think of apple as a content creator/provider first and gadget manufacturer second? Didn’t realize I did until now
Badge icon on the Home Screen. I’ll silence the call if I have to and it’ll show the red 1 (or whatever number of missed calls it is) and then just disappear on its own as if I clicked on the phone app
make sure you are on 18.2 swiped down from top right make sure focus/moon icon is off settings>notifications>phone>turn off badges, wait a few seconds and then turn it back on (also just make sure Allow is turned on) only other thing would be if your apple id is linked to an iPad or watch or computer and that device is registering the notification which removes it
I tried the badges from on to off to on. Hopefully that does the trick. I’m pretty sure this issue started happening after I downloaded to latest software of 18.2. I have a 14 pro fwiw
