I really do not want to go to the Apple store but my phone and computer are driving me fucking insane. I was recently forced to change my Apple ID password. I have had the same one forever and wasn't too keen on that. Apparently I forgot what I changed it to and had to change it again. Now for some reason if I spend 3 hours on my laptop I am prompted to put in my password by itunes at least 3 times. Since I have changed my password so much if I type in the wrong thing it makes me authenticate through my phone. Everytime I login on the computer I get a push notification on my phone and have to type in some 6 digit code at the end of my password. I am so sick of dealing with this shit. Is there some security setting I accidentally turned on? I went from staying logged in on my computer for 2 years and my phone for the lifetime of each phone do having to deal with password shit nearly every hour.
After 9 years of iphone ownership I cracked my first screen. Take it to the Apple store, right? Will they just get me set up with a new phone and take the old one to refurbish?
I think they actually replace the screen for you. if something goes wrong, then they will give you a refurb.
Any tips for "unstickying" keys? I spilled a little bit of mineral water on the left side of my Macbook keyboard and the shift, control and a few others are sticking a bit (still fully functional). I tried to clean them out with some rubbing alcohol and toothpicks but it didn't seem to help. Going to try some compressed air but is this something the Apple Store can easily fix for me if that doesn't work?
Liquid damage is tough. It's gonna depend on what all got damaged but a repair can cost essentially the same as a brand new computer.
There's nothing wrong with the computer (I drowned my Air with a beer that killed the battery, etc. so I know what liquid damage can do), the keys are just dirty. They're fully functional and I can live with it, I'd just rather not if I can easily fix it.
So yes and no in my opinion. I got it to run with while not having to carry my phone, but I also use MapMyRun or C25k. Both I believe need you to keep your phone near to sync with. The other aspect is I listen to music, and I can't find any good options without my phone near. You can load music to the watch but it is done by creating a playlist and then it syncs when the watch is charging. Basically I have not exactly gotten to the point where I can leave my phone at home. For me though I do like that I can put my phone in my camelbak when riding and still see the notifications and who is calling on my wrist. Overall I am definitely not disappointed that I got the watch but it isn't doing everything I hoped for either.
AppleCare through the apple upgrade program. Some credit cards will insure your phone if purchased with said card.
To all of you who own an apple watch, do any of you regret buying it? Anything you don't like about it? Considering buying one but just not sure.
Got the new MacBook Pro a few weeks ago for work (15 inch) Loving it so far, first MacBook, much cooler and easier for programming Touch bar is pretty cool for me Esc button being on the touch bar is my only con, it's about an inch to the right to where it's normally located. I use vim a lot so it's hard to get used to its location
Definitely not worth it. Series 2 is great and fixes a lot of the problems. That extra processing power is key
It's not the first watch. It's the series 1. I don't think they sell the first watch anymore. They have the series 1, series 2, and the nike sport one. The series 1 still has the updated processor. I think the main difference is no GPS
On the subject of the watch...My wife wants to get me some fitness tracker watch thin for my birthday. Is the Apple Watch the way to go or would anyone suggest anything else? She's got a Garmin from a few years ago that she really likes but I don't know enough about the Apple Watch and other benefits of it working with the iPhone.
Literally just scraped the face off my Series 2 last night. Had my hand on the inside of a closet door, holding jackets in place while I closed the door. Pulled my hand out and the watch caught door frame...face fell off onto the floor. So I'm visiting the Apple Store today.
Yeah, I don't know man. I already wanted to look into a phone-like screen protector for it. I'm not even two months in, and I had already scratched the edge of the face while climbing. Like THF said, it's nice to have the watch and Apple features, but as a tracker, it really leaves a bit to be desired in an active lifestyle.
Apple Watch 1st Gen has an S1 processor (single core, 32-bit), Watch Series 1 has an S1P processor (dual core, 32-bit) and Series 2 has an S2 processor (dual core, 32-bit) for a bit of clarification. Not sure in the pure processing power spread of S1P vs S2, though
I believe the display is a little higher quality. But unless the processor is that much different, not that I'm aware of. Especially not for $170 (with the sale at target right now)
I'm torn on whether I want one or not. Had a friend tell me if I get one to get series 1 as the price difference with the 2 isn't worth it.
Ordered this today. Wife didn't get a protection plan on the watch - gonna cost me $220 to repair the face/screen. I've had the watch for less than 60 days and I'm a little pissed. Edit: not sure if that Amazon link isn't showing for anyone else, but it's an series face cover
I've had a first gen since May 2015. Runs fine. And I swim with it: chlorinated pool, ocean, hot tub...no issues, it just doesn't have Swimming as an activity so I just have to do open activity. That being said, just buy Gen 2. It's future proofed, as I plan on getting the Gen3 this year.
Well it wasn't liquid damage apparently. Took it in last Friday, they replaced the keyboard for free, and I got it back on Wednesday.
You could get a fitbit for <$100 if you're looking for a cheaper route. Depends on what you want from a wrist device.
Does anyone have an alarm clock app recommendation? I just switched to iPhone and am struggling with the app store.
