Update: I work in IT and talked to the telecoms guy. He has a pile of them from people not wanting them so
I'll check in with him on Monday on what constitutes a pile, and what he would spare. I make no promises.
So the local apple guy said I needed a new logic board after my MBA turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I took it home and its working fine Should i take it to the actual apple store?
Still trying to figure out what exactly is different between it and the iPad Pro besides screen size and screen resolution/brightness, because that’s a huge jump in price just for that.
iPad Pro advangtages 2nd gen touch ID (new iPad only has 1st gen) 2x the refresh rate Works with smart keyboard (new iPad only works with bluetooth keyboards) Laminated display Antireflective coating (this and the lamination make it considerably better for outdoor use) ProMotion technology (a big deal if using it with styli or Apple Pencil) Wider color display True tone display A10X fusion chip (much faster, expecially for graphics, than the A10 that's on the new iPad) Just about every aspect of the cameras is significantly better - both photo and video Four speaker audio (new iPad has only two speakers) This is essentially a 9.7" iPad mini with a better processor but a bit of a worse screen due to the same resolution in a bigger body and lacking the lamination and antireflective coating. It's fine for what the majority of people will be wanting in an iPad/tablet, but if you are using it for any serious work or for stuff like arts, graphics, and design, the Pro is what you should get.
I have last years standard iPad model. It’s perfectly fine for casual stuff. Unless you want the pencil, I’d save a few bucks and go with the older model as a refurb (but they’re often on sale).
It’s back down but it’s done this several times now. I think I just need a new logic board. Should I try to install myself? I know nothing about computers but it’s just a physical install right?
$329 is pretty good price, no? I don't like buying refurbished computes. I have iPad 2 now. Still runs decent, but want something newer.
I've put one in a '13 MBP. Wasn't bad at all. I removed the optical drive and replaced the battery at the same time. It took maybe thirty minutes and works fine.
podcast app after the latest update fucking sucks. Hate how it auto plays instead of showing info first when you tap on the episode.
Read where Apple is already getting rid of the iPhone X in light of the upcoming X SE. That's going to leave a lot of people annoyed.
Read where no one knows what the fuck Apple is going to do until they announce it, especially not 6 months ahead of time
It's been pretty widely speculated for months. 3 new models is the expectation, so no space (price wise) to sell a reduced price year-old model.
Damn, didn't know someone would get so testy over it. And this is exactly what I was referring to, just explained in a better manner...
But that is Normal, other than the fact that the realeased 2 models at basically the same time last year.
Shattered my 6S Plus on vacation over the weekend the same month I paid it off. It was still working fine and was looking forward to getting whatever the next new phone was. Now I am stuck with the X.
It's been my experience that anytime I buy a third party product, it sucks or breaks so damn fast, and I end up just buying apple anyway. Esp w lightning cables.
The only non case third party product I’ve had success with is my Spigen wireless charger. Otherwise I’ve had nothing but problems.
Im looking at getting a new Apple TV. I had a first or second generation one, that I havent used in forever. Have they changed how mirroring works? Are there limitations on it. As in, can I stream sports from my laptop to it? Is the plex app good? Are there any apps that are missing that is glaring? I think it use to not have amazon, ect? TIA
Ive never had issues with the pod app. I like it. Maybe it's a "you dont know what youre missing" thing. But the apple app works well enough for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think the most disappointing thing with Apple is there chords. Be it my MacBook Pro chords or iPhone chords they have ALWAYS frayed after a couple years of use. Never have had this issue with any other cable for any other electrical device. I get that it’s great design but they need to do better so these things don’t break down.
I say Monoprice bc they are all lifetime warranty. Just save the packing and when it dies, get on their support and they will send you a new one. Rarely even ask me to send the old one in. Most last me a couple years.
