Verizon’s bogo deal appears to have ended. Was gonna get an X for me and an 8+ for the wife. I guess I’ll hold out for the new releases now. The button is gone for good it appears with the fall releases. New chip though and probably other new features as well.
Written by a journalist from Wired. He does stuff like visit the mines where materials for the phone are produced, or tells you backstory on how certain features came to be etc. Some of it may be old for people who are big Apple fans; I don't know every detail about the company already. I think it's a fascinating read though beyond just Apple -- as implied by the title "the one device" it's really about this amazing device that's everything from a camera to a phone to a music player to a navigator and all the ways that's changed the world
So I got a text from a buddy with a roughly 5 year old Mac Book Pro and he is having some wifi connection issues. He states wifi works in living room but not in office where modem/router are, if I'm understanding him correctly what should he do to troubleshoot/fix that issue? He's tried you know rebooting computer and modem but nothing.
He's rebooted both the modem and router correct? Has to be both not just the modem. your OP says modem only
If rebooting both doesn't help, could be that the router has somehow gone defective (rare for a nighthawk) or there's something else obstructing the signal in his office Worst case scenario he could hardwire his macbook to his router when he's working in the office
I'm the buddy. It's a 2014 MBP with a Nighthawk router and Infinity modem (both new under a year) located under the desk where the laptop is. Yesterday, MBP won't connect on top of desk but I go out to living room and watch GS/Houston, come back to desk and won't connect again. Diagnostics say check wifi/signal strength. Pull router out from under desk and we're up to lightning speeds again. Likely going to re-arrange office to give MBP line of sight to router. It's the damndest thing that all of sudden, it doesn't connect. Any ideas are appreciated, thank you.
Yeah that's strange, I'm guessing your desk isn't a 3ft thick slab of concrete. Maybe mess with the antennas on the nighthawk?
One thing I would do is run the battery down to as close to 0% as you can and then charge it back up fully. That helps with calibrating the battery left meter.
I’m thinking about getting a new MacBook Pro this weekend, but do y’all think I should wait till Apple’s conference in case there is a new model or will it not be any significantly updates?
Don't know what you need it for but I love my MacBook. Going on 2 years, got a "stuck" shift key not long after I purschased. Apple replaced the keyboard. No complaints since. If I don't drown this one I'm hoping for 5+ years.
This. I bought a refurbed Late 2012 Macbook Pro back in 2014 or 2015 and it's still going strong without a problem
Yeah, I've pulled it out from under the desk and it's working fine now. Also weird is that my Simply Safe alarm system is having trouble connecting. That points me in the direction that it's not the MBP and the router/modem set up. All other iphones and laptops work fine. Appreciate the input, I'm going to play with it this weekend to figure out what is what.
This post coming from an Early 2011 MBP. Still running smoothly. Only issue is that apps launch fairly slowly now, but not to the point where I cant stand it
Managing the storage has to be one of the most annoying parts of owning an iPhone. Can't do software update or backup because it says I don't have enough memory. I look at what's taking up memory and it's ~3 gigs for messages, 2.5 gigs for photos, and everything else taking up peanuts. It's a 16 gig phone, how do I not have enough memory?
Easiest way to handle this without having to delete all kinds of items from your iPhone is to plug it up to your computer and iTunes and update it that way. Doesn't answer the annoyance you mentioned above but at least it keeps you from having to delete anything from your phone.
My iPhone X is starting to have issues. The swipe up to unlock or change apps sometimes freezes. Will not work. I have to lock phone sometimes more than once and try again. Eventually works. Made a genius appt this week. But you know it wont have the issue when I’m there. I suspect they will blame my glass screen protector but it’s never been an issue.
I just changed the setting from keep messages "forever" to keep for 30 days. That killed a lot that was taking up room. Which is probably something I'm gonna need, I just know it!!!
I had an issue like that and switched the texts to only save messages back a year. If it is older than that I probably don't need it. It trimmed a lot of the text files down a bunch. Edit just saw your follow up message, that should help even more.
They need to be able archive messages. I have threads for 3 years and don’t want to lose them. But want them off my phone. iCloud backs them up but if you then delete them locally. They are gone.
Just installed iOS 11. Seems frivolous with the animations. Reading that book about iPhones made me want to do updates as soon as they’re available though for security patch reasons
Just got an iPad Pro to start using for work. Going to be taking a lot of notes. What apps should I look into for note taking and organizing those notes? Also going to be putting together photos/videos of projects. What’s a good video editing app?
putting photos in the cloud does not save storage space unless you choose the compression setting and even that still takes up space
Google Photos app Auto uploads photos to your google account and lets you delete everything else. I love it. There was an article recently about how Google's new updates to the service are killing the iCloud service.
Is there a decent, free program out there that allows me to export an imessage chain (preferably with pictures) to a PDF? Or something along these lines?
Got an iphone X, nike iwatch and some beats studio headphones. Been on an apple kick. Get the watch in the mail on saturday but really enjoying the phone and headphones.
Also, does anyone use an iwatch bumper? I bought a Spigen one for mine and some tempered glass screen covers because I'm hard on watches.
