would say keep it in the case and send in. it's their fault for selling a case that led to a crack. and they'd know if you swapped out phones.
Is it a stress/hairline crack or a large one? Usually as long as there is no fall/impact damage visible they will overlook it. I’d take your chances before shelling out $279+tax for a replacement
Think I figured out what I'm going to do. Gonna keep my pre-order and then just do the payout to buy the X. The way things are set now I would be sending the phone back to Verizon as a part of the upgrade program for the Max. I owe about $500 on it still so I can just pay that amount, keep the phone while still getting the Max, and then sell the X on Ebay to make some of that back. I checked Ebay and the X is still going for upwards of $500 with a cracked back. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-iPho...160983&hash=item4684ae7c39:g:rdAAAOSw6j1bkdre
2 pages behind but 128 GB should’ve been standard for baseline models. That’s what I had on my iPhone 7 and I still have 77 GBs of space left
What’s everyone’s thoughts on the glass screen protectors? I use bodyguardz and swear by it. Remove it before resale and perfect screen.
I don’t use one. Apple hasn’t yet dinged me for screen condition. The X has a lot more surface scratches than any of my others though.
Ordered a red speck case. I've used screen protectors until the guy at Apple pointed out that a screen replacement with Apple care is actually cheaper than a screen protector. Scratched my x up pretty good though.
I ended up scratching my phone and being pissed. I wonder if they'll replace for scratches or if it has to be cracked.
Haven’t used a case since my 5s. Decided last night I’ll get a 40mm series 4 watch when I get a new phone next month.
I like a (faux) leather case with an open bottom, nothing near the lightening port or on the speakers. I have a cheap 10 dollar case off amazon that is perfect. Will be caseless on the max till better options are out there.
It does but I’m kinda intrigued. I’ve had a otter box commuter on my iPhone 7 since day 1 and never had issues. I would like something with decent protection but slimmer.
I have this for my x. Can barely tell there's a case on it. Dropped it a bunch and it's fine. Doesn't do hair for scratches though. I am a big fan of spigen liquid air cases as well.
I haven’t used a case in years. Was thinking about getting one of those Biff Bumpers for this XS but I’ll prolly go bareback.
Ordered the Spigen Ultra Hybrid and it arrived today. Always a reliable option. Costs like half as much on Amazon. https://www.spigen.com/products/iphone-6-5-case-ultra-hybrid?variant=9106956386351
Pitaka FTW. As minimal as anything out there but exponentially more durable and mag mounts w/o blocking wireless charging. It has a raised lip for the camera but you’ll want to slap a screen protector to help with the edges.
If I didn’t have AppleCare I would probably get something like that. With AppleCare I’ll get something smaller or none.
That’s what I have on my X. Only drawback is it shows fingerprints like crazy on the back. I have an otter box for work but it is ridiculously bulky
Think I'll probably just go with an otterbox symmetry. I've always done the commuter, anyone done the symmetry before?
