Yes, no, maybe so?
God is a concept by which we measure our pain.
No, it has good values in general. Then comes the genocide and murderous history. The con’s outweigh the pro’s IMO.
No, the idea of God/Deity doesn't make sense to me.
Guess I’m agnostic. Think religion can be good for people who need something to believe in and live their life better, also makes people incredibly fucking stupid and divides.
I’m a spiritual person, but not religious at all if that makes sense.
Was raised in a very Christian home but I'm not at all religious anymore. I understand the appeal of it for a sense of community and all that though. When your social life revolves around it it's almost irrelevant whether the actual stories are true or not.
Agnostic atheist. Grew up Episcopalian.
Here's an annoying chart to help explain the difference in each term.
Is there a fuck no option?
was earlier in life but the people were terrible and disgusting towards others
Fuckin fence sitter.
When I need to be
religious people think that god will protect them from covid so they don’t wear masks
Not sure how anyone can be 100% sure of almost anything.
This describes me as well. I feel what I guess would be deemed a spiritual connection with things from time to time. Nature in particular. But I don't believe religion is at all involved.
God, Jesus and the “virgin” Mary can eat a dick.
I would never claim to know for a fact that there's no higher being. But if there is one, there's no way that it cares if I'm masterbating or not.
The Christian idea of a human-like, white flowing beard God is silly. Jesus seems like a rad dude, but probably not the messiah.
But I believe there is something beyond human consciousness and life on earth. Something greater than myself. What it is, I have no idea.
Aggressive, I like it
I've seen churches that are very inclusive and the members seem genuinely interested in helping/uplifting people. But yeah a lot of churches are just awful and exist to reinforce the idea that they are better than other people.
yes, this is me as well except i grew up southern baptist
have done nothing for mankind but bring about hatred, warfare and death. Some “god”.
fuck em all
that’s when i knew religion wasn’t for me. fucking weirdos
It'd be a relief if I were. Deeply envious of the people that are, who don't bother other people with it though.
No, I kind of wish I did believe though.
Same besides growing up in the church. I believe there is more and something better. Like a next level of consciousness or something like that. The whole god and rules to get in thing is some dumb shit to me.
Religion is built to take advantage of people, molest children and do it all tax free
Love Jesus’ teachings. Have and still want to believe in my heart (a piece probably still does). Head tells me when you’re done you’re done.
Pretty much sums me up.
Still a person of Faith/Spiritual, but have drifted away from the institutions I was raised on.
I don’t enjoy many community threads but have something going here
like Owsley i’m spiritual in every sense of the hippy definition not at all religious. I do need to believe there is a heaven for a very personal reason.
This thread is either going to die in a few pages or blow up into something beautiful
Glad to see so few yeses. My hope would be that humanity has turned a corner and religion dies. But then I think about how easy conspiracy theories and bizarre pseudoscience spreads on the internet and I realize that it’s impossible.
Proud atheism is winning
The former imo
I wish we would bring back Hellenistic polytheism tbh
I am. I’m on the Board of Directors for a small church. The pastors are very liberal. Huge supporters of BLM. Will not have services because they know our at risk members will come and put themselves at risk so are doing everything online. We have weekly meetings that is solely about how can we help people in our community. It’s the least judgmental group of people I’ve been around with a church.
We meet every month at a local brewery and make bag lunches for homeless people in the area. Love it. I really got fed up with the large churches I attended growing up. It’s actually made me enjoy church and my religion again.
I’m religious and read scripture daily. My faith has played an integral part in getting and keeping me sober but to each their own.
The Virgin Mary
The Chad Judas
do you believe in Santa clause too?
Even though I don’t buy into religion, I have no problem with those that use it and benefit from it.
We all need faith in something at times and do what works best for you.
So you’re saying, personally, the door’s not closed on a Bo Pelini reunion tour?
The people who wield their religion like a weapon are the problem. The rest of the religious world is generally okay or even good.
this type of stuff is the only real good “religion” has ever actually done.
