Have heard great things about this one, and been wanting to do it, but haven't. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/north-carolina/grandfather-mountain-trail
Spent the last few days in Asheville, eating delicious food and checking out downtown. We ate at the following places, and each one was delicious. The fried chicken sandwich at Buxton Hall might legitimately be the best thing I've ever eaten. Breakfast: Sunny Point Cafe, Over Easy Cafe, Biscuit Head, Early Girl Eatery Lunch and dinner: Gan Shan Station, White Duck Taco, Red Ginger, Buxton Hall BBQ We also did the downtown Urban Trail. It's a cool way to explore and learn some of the history.
was in greenville last week and had Biscuit Head there, was faaaaantastic, the tea brined chicken biscuit the highlight we really thought about driving up to hit Sunny Point but were too exhausted
I don't know how much you follow job postings there, but if you ever see an administrator position open up at the technical college, let me know.
Going to drink after taking the bar Friday. Hike black balsam knob Saturday, hit Sierra Nevada on way out
was just talking about black balsam knob with a coworker today. one of the better views there is from everything i have heard. it's certainly on my to hike list
city council voting tonight on a brunch bill to allow alcohol sales at 10am on sunday mornings so damn excited. epl beers and pre-nfl sunday mimosas
Heading to Asheville for Labor Day weekend. Looking to stay at an AirBnB. I'm not seeing too many things downtown. How is West Asheville? Any things to do in that area, and would it be hard to get to downtown Asheville from there? Any advice is appreciated.
also i know it's not cool to like chain places but the south asheville wild wing has an awesome patio. they have a big pavilion and it looks out onto lake julian drinking a local ipa, looking out onto the lake and listening to a pretty good bluegrass band that is performing. cool venue
Spending one evening in Asheville with my wife. Is there a main bar/restaurant area we should focus on?
South slope if you like breweries. More restaurants right up the road around Patton ave and surrounding. Its a small downtown
Basic food. I've eaten at Pack's Tavern before and liked that place, but would look for something a little more unique. Maybe something with an outdoor area? We want to hit a handful of places for food and drinks. I appreciate the help.
Well if she can deal with drinking something light at breweries I'd hit green man, burial, funkatorium then eat right there at Buxton Hall or head up towards the middle of downtown and eat at somewhere like blue dream curry house. A full service bar favorite of mine is Asheville yacht Club
Yeah Highland is fucking awesome. Love the facility and the field and all the trucks and shit. It's just so big it's far (relatively). I need to go there more than I do. Tell myself that everytime I'm there
my car is about to die so haven't really been able to venture out as much as i have wanted these last few months so i am embarrassed to admit i haven't been there yet. it's on my to do list for sure
Heading to Asheville this weekend. Staying about a half mile from Sunny Point Cafe. Doing breweries and watching football tomorrow. Any recommendations for what bars would have TVs? Would Wicked Weed have games on? Sunday were doing Biltmore and a hike.
I'm going to asheville next thursday through sunday. Hiking on friday and breweries on saturday. What are some good hiking trails and some good restaurants to go to, and how hipster is asheville?
I like the food at burial brewing and wicked weed. Blue dream curry house and Gan shan station are great. Buxton hall bbq, nine mile, Chai pani, white duck. Food at Sierra Nevada is awesome and the facility is too
I like the food and drinks at brahmari a lot but the atmosphere has always been lacking comparatively when I've been there
Was lucky enough to stay like 100 yards from there. Ended up spending way too much money there. Burial was disappointing to me this time around. Was not nearly as awesome as I had remembered it being on my first trip.
Here now. Hiked the Craven Gap (I giggled at the name) Trail this morning. Nice little 8 mile hike. Now we just sat down at Lexington Ave Brewery. No idea of it’s good or not but it looks pretty cool and smells good so we’re goin with it.
The food at Wicked Weed and Sierra Nevada are excellent. I could stay at both breweries for extended periods of time. Burial is kind of a hole in the wall for appearance but the beer is outstanding.
