Went to Asheville a few weeks ago. Loved Biscuit Head, White Duck Tacos, Tupelo Honey Cafe and Vortex Donuts. Pack’s Tavern was just ok. Luella’s BBQ was trash; we wanted 12 Bones but it’s not open for dinner.
luella’s isn’t very good at all 12 bones is tasty. get it once a week since i live a mile or so from the south asheville location
We stayed at the Hilton Biltmore Park and Luella’s was walking distance from the hotel, so we gave it a shot. It was one of the worst BBQ meals I’ve ever had.
New name for me, looks tasty. What did you order? Swung through Sunday and had my first Buxton fried chicken sandwich experience. Will 100% be back next time I’m drinking on the south slope thanks to the strong recos ITT.
Going to be in Asheville the Friday before NYE, If you are going to be there for 1 day what is the must hit place for lunch and few spots to venture to during the afternoon.
NY Strip, green beans, collard greens Wife had the fried chicken It had a good atmosphere with limited seating so the service and kitchen weren’t overwhelmed. Also, there was a nice bar area with decent talent drinking all around it. Since I can list everything on my diet basically on a post it note I can’t sample most places recommended. Plus, I don’t like superloud places. This one checked all of my boxes plus it has a butcher next door that looks promising next time I’m there during daylight hours. It wouldn’t take a whole lot for me to buy a house or condo down there and just spend my weekends in Asheville.
Id go to the south slope area and walk around to all the breweries and eat at Buxton hall or anywhere else that caught your eye
I like the food and beers at bhramari but the atmosphere has been really weak the few times I've been
Food was fantastic. Beers were pretty solid. Agree that it has a low key atmosphere, at least it did when I visited, but that was perfect for me on my visit.
We kept hearing about how great the food was and it was just meh. None of the beers really stood out to any of us and the service was absolutely horrible. With that said, I would definitely go back and try it again. Maybe it was an off night. Every other place we went to was great.
Heading up tomorrow and staying overnight to meet with some banks and some other business stuff. Anything cool going on Monday night I should be aware of?
i will be getting drunk watching the unc game at a yet to be decided location. pretty cool stuff there imo
did dirty ears bill tell you about when he came up a few weeks back we get to a bar friday night and he realizes he left his id in charleston. luckily i knew the owner a bit so he let us drink but the rest of the weekend was me having to slip him beers like we were in high school or something that boy aint right
Come to think of it, I haven't talked to Dirty Ears Bill since before Clemson won the nashnul champyunship. And in light of that I might like to keep it that way
Absolutely fantastic. It was cold as hell, but at least it quit raining and we got some really cool late night pics in the snow. All of our guests who had never been to Asheville raved about it.
where did you have it at? i went on a run around beaver lake and it was beautiful but the wind and ice was brutal
Rehearsal was at the Homewood, ceremony was at the first congregational church, and the reception was at Celine and company on broadway - right across from mellow mushroom. The venues couldn’t have been better for what we wanted.
damn that looks great sucked how cold it was but a (somewhat) snowy asheville night probably made up for it visually
looking like juicy lucy's is the decision because i want a burger and they have some good looking burgers according to yelp please respect my decision. no interviews
just grabbing a post-work beer before the game. you’re welcome to join if you want. will be here till 6:45ish
I can confirm. Great weekend, amazing city. Had dinner at Sovereign Remedies on Friday and it was absolutely delicious. Rhubarb for brunch was also tits. Great beer, food, and hell of a time at the Owsley nuptials.
Me and my wife are planning on doing our anniversary there. Going to be there 3 nights. Which hotel would yall reccomend?
Anyone know where I should call to set up getting a small keg of some good local stuff? Considering it for our house for an upcoming bachelor party. Also any places/butchers that would have good steaks we could grill up or maybe something like a crawfish boil?
Just got here and waiting for GF to wrap up work. Going to try to hit Biscuit Head or Buxton Hall for lunch. Which one would have shorter wait?
