I did an alexios playthrough and doing Kassandra now. Better voice actor imo
I went with Kassandra, seems she is the better option.
Odyssey is super fun. It's way different than I was expecting. More of an rpg, still getting a hold on the combat system but it feels nice.
I don't think I really use Icarus properly or grasp the crafting economy yet but I'm excited.
Sweet jesus, I just left the island. This game is fucking huge
I started into Origins, having spent a couple months in Black Flag, which I loved, and having played most of the prior titles, and it just hasn't grabbed my full attention. Is Odyssey better, worse...?
felt the same about origins
In the end I liked Origins but I never loved it like I did Black Flag
I have only played 2-3 hours of Odyssey so its hard to judge quite yet.
Origins was such a change from the last couple games they had put our and was honestly refreshing. It had far more RPG elements and such a wide open world to explore with an endless amount of side missions. I spent easily 100+ hours in the game and could have gone more if had the time.
Odyssey feels very similar and I am excited to explore everything.
If there is one part that is "lacking" in both Origins and Odyseey (so far) its the Assassin storylines. Origins had a good story so it didn't bother me, especially given everything else you could explore and experience.
With all of that said, it might be a bit unfair to judge any of the games against Ezio and his story.
I can't base my opinions on other AC games, I've only played the original AC over a decade ago and I just played AC2 for the first time the last couple weeks and now this.
So pretty much everything is new to me. But the combat system is fun and way different, I'm liking the story. And I had no idea that about how pervasive the RPG elements are now, I love it. Have some Shadows of Mordor vibes which I thought was an amazing game.
I couldn’t get into origins and dropped it after a couple hours
Odyssey I’ve played just over an hour of and enjoying it substantially more than Origins, so much so that I didn’t rate quit after I got stuck in a geometry glitch about 15 minutes in
Odyssey > Origins
Kassandra >>>>>>>> Alexios
Team Syndicate was a good game.
Brotherhood, Black Flag, and Odyssey are my top 3.
AC 2 had the best story/plot imo.
Team Bayek is the best AC character period
Ya boy thought he could tussle with that God damn Boar underleveled...
I was mistaken haha.
I will never forget the time I had a similar experience in origins.
first got out of Siwa, no clue what the numbers above enemies meant. I was a level 2 and they were level 10, thought I could take them on.
I just got absolutely destroyed.
was so satisfying coming back to find them a little later in the game and while them out.
I’m just about to leave the island as well. As stated by another, I’m enjoying this game much more than origins for some reason, even though they have a very similar playstyle
I had forgotten how much I missed naval combat and ship boarding
Made the bear grotto my bitch
But fuck this bitch boar and her adds
Loved Odyssey - the Atlantis and First Blade add ons are a lot of fun as well.
Only thing I had left to do was find the 99 mercenary and take my position as the most badass mercenary in the game. Finally competed that the other day so mission accomplished.
Odyssey gold edition is $24.99 on Microsoft store
Gonna return my used standard copy and get the gold edition
you can tell they drew so much inspiration from Witcher and Mordor games, which isn’t a bad thing
will have to pick it up now
Yeah, went ahead and lopped for when I finally finish Origins.
I’m convinced the game is just going to continuously add mechanics and modes all the way to the endgame
My quest log OCD goes in overdrive with this fucking game lol.
I cheesed it a bit. I had a mercenary track me there and I hid in the tall grass for a bit. He killed everything, and his health was low enough for me to put one arrow in his head and kill him. Got all the experience and the Artemis quest done. Wonderful
What abilities are your favorites?
Hunter tree as a whole seems pretty underwhelming compared to warrior and assassin. Which is a bummer, I was hoping on doing a heavy assassin/bow play through but it doesn't seem worth.
I think hero strike and kick are pretty great. I was using shield break for a bit, but I'm trying out time slow rn now that I've got it unlocked.
Spartan kick is so amazingly goofy
I also like the charged arrow, homing arrow and poison blade
and just upgraded shield break to work on all shields >
I really can’t overemphasize how stunning this recreation of Ancient Greece is
Its definitely goofy, but its undeniably effective.
Using a staff against a group of enemies surrounding you >
Hopping back into Odyssey. Last save says I last played in October of 2018.
- holy shit I’m lost at relearning the control scheme again
Most I've dedicated to a game in awhile, I love it. The detail they put into ancient Greece is amazing.
I’m nearly 40 hours played and haven’t left Phokis yet.
So much to do and explore, really enjoying it.
I just keep running towards question marks. More so than I ever did in Origins
That was my strategy in Origins and it’s what I’m doing now. Love uncovering everything in a region.
I have also really enjoyed taking on as many contracts and side quests as possible.
I would start to hold off on all the contracts and mini sides. I got really bogged down because of it and was just leveling instead of doing actual quests. I was in Phokis and Megaris doin shit for too long haha.
Not to say I didn't enjoy it buy I felt my quest log OCD was keeping me from exploring the other regions. So I just uncover and complete all the question Marks and do the main side quests instead of chasing the little ones and contracts.
Just bought Odyssey and really digging it. Origins never grabbed me like this has. I think maybe the departure from the AC formula was too jarring at the time but now I've accepted it as a well done open world RPG with fun combat
I too have jumped on the 24.99 deal for odyssey
This might be a dumb question and maybe it will asnwer itself once I play more but...
Who am I supposed to be supporting across the regions? Initially I helped Sparta but now that I have finished Phokis I have option to be on either side.
Does this at all matter?
Just trying to understand the dynamics of who and what to support while playing.
You can support either iirc
I started playing this when Covid dropped and now I can’t quit.
Having much trouble with the late game bosses and I’m super frustrated.
Make sure you get the add ons for Legacy of the First Blade and Atlantis. The Atlantis one is much better so save that for after the First Blade.
Hero Strike with assassin engravings is amazing
I don’t know what any of this is. I’ve upgraded the spear by murdering cultists. Does that count?
I just sealed Atlantis. Does this mean the game is over? I can’t figure out how to get out of here.
I don’t think the story ever ends. I have never before put so many hours into a game and not reach an ending.
This is how I feel. It’s says I’m like 99.4% done so I quit. As much as I liked the game it got to where it was inducing depression every time I turned it on because it reminded me of lockdown.
I’m going to finish Unity now
