Prob trading Guzan if we really pick up Johnson. Maybe part of trade to Chicago since he's a local there

Expansion draft results Pick 1. Donny Toia (MTL) Pick 2. Zach Loyd (DAL) Pick 3. Clint Irwin (TOR) Pick 4. Mikey Ambrose (ORL) Pick 5. Alec Kann (SKC)
So my quick eval: Donny Toia is a weird pick since Duvall was available Zach Loyd is a good pick Clint Irwin is good insurance if Guzan falls through. I think you'll deal him if Guzan does come. Ambrose is a confusing pick. He was a serviceable backup for us and our backline was atrocious. Alec Kann probably sticks around as a backup no matter how this shakes out.

BREAKING: #ATLUTD trade Donny Toia to @OrlandoCitySC for natural first round pick in the 2017 #MLS SuperDraft (currently #8)
ATL will have a very strong roster. They are levering ever option available to maximize the cap. 3 high level DPs, 2 TAM/GAM signings. 2 HomeGrown Players. Team will score tons of goals on paper, but that defense is questionable. Got a NYCFC feel to them.
Alright I've watched the tapes on Toia. I'm actually quite pleased with our trade to you guys. Nothing is guaranteed in the superdraft and he's about as sure of a thing as we could hope for at LB and it's just delightful that he's only 24.
will be interesting to see what we do with the pick, and who we go with at LB in addition to the Valenzuela kid starting for Newells Old Boys.
The title of this video stops for me at "Da"in the defenders name. Not disappointed in the least who it turned out to be.
I wouldn't go that far. LA, Toronto, NYCFC, Seattle all pretty much play the same game. It isn't really rocket science it is just having a deep pocketed owner that is willing to pay to bring in quality DPs. Atlanta has just gone with all younger (no ticket selling) DPs from South America versus guys like Lampard or Gerrard who can sell tickets/jerseys, but might not be that great anymore. I would say Almiron and Romero are pretty high quality and will likely be impact players. Both came with high price tags in excess of $6 Million. Villalba is a notch below the other 2. I am not completely sold on Villalba stepping in right away and being an impact player. He isn't playing with Tijuana on loan and young DPs don't have the best track record. I think Kenwayne Jones is a very good TAM signing, but don't like spending TAM on a GK. So not huge on Guzan. Guzan does give Atlanta a USMNT, which is marketable. I definitely can't blame them for signing him if they can get him. Parkhurst is a solid veteran to anchor the defense, but is getting up their and age and was not great last year for Columbus after playing extremely well in 2015. Signing Carleton is common sense. They can sell on at 18 and recoup their money even if he doesn't play a game for Atlanta. Likely the same can be said for Goslin. It will be interesting to see how those 2 pan out. Like signing Vasquez. Is a young player who has value and upside that should be able to get some minutes in place of Jones. The issue in Year 1 will be shoring up the D and Central Defense. Got to take Miles Robinson at #2 in my opinion. If the roster can gel quickly, which will be tricky as literally no players have ever played together the team could be really good right away. The other issue is that MLS plays through international breaks frequently and Atlanta will lose at least Almiron, Romero, Jones and Guzan every time.
Miles Robinson is who I want by far. Last checked season ticket sales were over 20k in the summer. I'm against Guzan because of the TAM and the fact he will spend so much time away with the USMNT. Hopefully this Kann dude is good.
wish we still had all of triceratops posts lost in the crash hating on the franchise existing from the start
"ESPN Brazil’s Gustavo Zupak is also reporting that Atlanta has shown an interest in 32-year-old Paraguayan forward Lucas Barrios, currently with Palmeiras." He was so good at Dortmund back in the day
I'm gonna be pissed if China ruined our chances at getting a solid 3rd DP for the start of the season.
Deal is supposedly dead. Chinese club supposedly offered double the transfer free and triple the salary. There are hundreds of other DP possibility though, so you would have to assume ATL would grab another good one to compliment the 2 they have right now. Might make sense to grab a more defensive minded midfielder. Also signed Jacob Peterson who played last year for KC. Sort of swiss army knife in the midfield who scored 6 goals last year.
They said we were still going to use the 3rd DP slot He will probably end up in Europe, but Tata should see if he can get a young talent like Ascacibar to MLS for a few years.
