Game was an absolute blast and the atmosphere was incredible. I know the new stadium is going to be awesome but I don't know if it will be quite the same as it is at Bobby Dodd. Also, can't believe the break we got with the weather.
Just rewatched the game on TV bc I was pretty hammered at the game last night. We are going to be really good when we get Josef back up top. Miggy, Asad, Villalba, Gressel, plus Josef is a pretty strong attacking setup. Tata getting booted was hilarious. Does Guzan actually beat out Kann this summer? I was a Kann hater early on but he's been pretty solid and his distribution out of the back has really improved. And lastly, really cool moment for Carleton coming in to relieve Miggy at home in ATL.
these guys have been hanging out almost every day it seems, they were at Six Flags earlier in the week. Seems like a tight knit group for an expansion side.
Fucked them up in the first 20. Miggy is on another level most of the time. Still sick and tired of Gressel losing possession in the midfield. All in all a great 3 points.
Loved the Tifo Gonna be interesting to see how Tata manages minutes once we start playing midweeks and the lumped schedule in September. Cant wait to see how we gel once we get Josef Martinez. Thats the scary part.
So yeah, when the hell is Martinez supposed to play again? It sounded like he could have played in this game.
Guy on Marta on the way home claims to have talked to Josef one night recently and said it was a partial tear. Explains the longer time frame. Not sure I believe it but it makes sense.
Yea its going to be a high #, and will be funny to see the reaction from MLS twitter. Am I correct for thinking that the club gets to keep 66% of the transfer fee, MLS gets the other fee? Regardless, it will be a damn nice return compared to what we paid for him. Seems like he has acclimated well to living here, Has his girl here. And has a solid group of teammates to make him feel comfortable off the field. All of which should keep him/agent patient for a team with pockets willing to pay high.
On when we should expect Josef Martinez to return: āHe is doing very well. He is back in training and it is up to the medical staff and our coaching staff to work together to manage his minutes. It is more about fitness with these guys when you are out for so long. It is just catching your wind. He is good. Everything else is good. It is just about getting him fit and ready to contribute minutes.ā
Told the guy in front of me this today. We found a gem in that kid. Composure on his first goal, finesse on the second and then a hidden gear to go with his flair.
Yeah I didn't say hidden but maybe it was implied. The point is that he is a significant talent who will probably grow past the MLS game, but we have him.
The game Saturday was amazing. The seats were great, because we were behind the goal and got to see all 3 up close. Fun as hell. Can't wait to go back. Almiron is next level, and it's awesome that we've found a general formation that works in Martinez' absence. Gressel looks much better on the on the outside than he did playing up top.
If we had been playing Villalba in his current spot instead of Jones, we probably have two more wins.
Team doctors are cutting no corners getting their star striker back up to speed. Josef posted the latest addition to his rehab regiment on Instagram. No, Josef is not training to be an astronaut. That's called a GyroStim, a cognitive training device that's intended to make sure his mind is as ready as his body to hit the ground running in his return to training.
