his contract situation is going to be very interesting, assuming his club will let us keep him beyond this current loan deal. He certainly would get a boost in pay. You'd likely have to either buy down Villalba or His $ with TAM/GAM to be under DP level. But then....Garza contract is still undecided, luckily he has gone public saying he wants to remain settled in Atlanta so perhaps he wont have as high of demands. Incredible scouting by an expansion side. Would love to keep him around.
I know it is probably impossible, but I don't want to lose any of these guys. Probably could win it all next year if this group stays together.
Exactly my thinking. It might come at risk of blocking Carleton playing time by keeping the Big 4, but perhaps we are better at shuffling minutes in Year 2.
Yeah, probably could have done a better job at that this year when we had big leads. Seems like Tito and Asad are the only ones that come off consistently.
Saw some folks on Sunday walking around the concourse with a "Sign Asad" poster. Couldn't agree more about trying to keep him and Garza, though it might be difficult.
Bovada has odds as 1. TFC +225 2. NYCFC +700 3. ATLUTD +900 other than the tricky 1st round no return leg, i love our chances in any Home-and-Home given our penchant for scoring.
Absolutely. With Villa in poor form, and our hotness, we have a chance. No Miggy be damned. I just know, even a home match, it will be quite a nerve wracking 1st round in a 1-off given the brain fart matches where our defense has been whipped. Im scared of that possibility as a new, really young team.
Top 6 qualify. 1 and 2 don't have to play midweek while the other 4 do. 3 hosts 6 and 4 hosts 5 in a one off match. Best seed advancing plays 2 seed in a home and home that highest aggregate advances (and worst seed left plays 1 seed). Aggregate basically means whoever scores the most over 2 matches. It doesn't really matter if you win 1 and lose 1. Away goals are more important because that is first tiebreaker so say you win 2-1 at home and lose 1-0 on the road, you lose. Conference finals works same way and then for the MLS Cup final, it's hosted by whoever had the most points in the regular season so let's say that the points hold level and you guys played Vancouver for the MLS Cup. Even though you're 3 seed and they're 1 in the West, doesn't matter, you host as you had more points
Also, don't assume that playing at home means you'll get calls and won't get completely fucked over and the refs let play continue when the ball clearly goes out of play for the 2nd goal in your loss and then your 2 star players start hating each other and you have to trade one of them a month into the next season
Guess I'm out of the loop, but why is Blake (Philly GK) getting booed every time he touches the ball?
That ATL chant may have been the best I've heard since the move to MB. Nice seeing them keep on the pressure even without Miggy.
I tried to look up the chant but couldn't find it. Sounded like wobble wobble.. Wobble still Atl ATL Or some shit like that and repeated....anyone know?
Not to sound like Charlie Weis, but we have a decided tactical advantage going into every game. Its amazing how each game unfolds exactly how we dictate.
During the halftime recap they mentioned Almiron would be happy at home after Joseff's goal. Is it a soccer thing that you don't go to a game.if you're hurt?? That seems dumb.
Might be since it’s still fresh that they want him to be off it and rest. Feel like most of the time I see injured players they’re up in a box or something
So what trophies are we able to chase as an MLS team. I know about the US Open Cup, Supporters Shield, and MLS Cup. What other international items can we add to our trophy case? Will we ever compete against teams outside of the Americas?
