Kinda surprised we left Asad unprotected, but then you look at the guys we protected and it’s hard to find one to replace him with.
Eh. We're able to use whatever color we want on their logo, which is among the best things you can hope for in a shirt sponsor. And pretty much all the other companies that get mentioned for sponsor are ones that don't need it for brand awareness in the least.
guy would be a baller with our attacking options, but moving Garber Bucks seems counterintuitive to what the club was/is going
And supposedly giving up an international spot too. Acquire as many international spots as possible. Fill them. Next buy non-MLS Americans. Then deal with intra-MLS moves for the rest. Surely it's not a permanent int spot though I hope.
I don’t think you can deal permanent international spots. Just for a season. But MLS makes it up as they go so
Congrats guy. Dude should be good for your club. Also, literally one of the nicest athletes off the field you will ever have. Terrific player, even better human being.
Looks like we’re bringing Jeff Larentowicz back. A coworker’s husband is a tattoo artist and he does work on a lot of our players. Supposedly they’re coming in to do a piece on Larentowicz and that’s how they’re announcing he’s coming back.
Didn’t think we would actually improve our front four a ton but Asad-> Barco is a huge improvement holy fuck.
No spot for the rookie of the year?? Guess he'll be like the super sub and just sub for most of the front 4??
there is some dissent on what he becomes. A #6? A winger? A RB? Obviously he could be a super sub, already is. He will become a huge trade asset if he were to get his green card. Its a good problem to have.
6 would be a more possession-oriented, rather than attack-minded, holding or defensive Midfielder. Depends on system and style. The position that Larentowicz/Carmona played. Midfield, but not Almiron style offensive-oriented midfield. Central player behind that player. A Green Card is what I believe INS gives foreigners to work in the USA legally. That could have changed under the new form of government being installed, but I dont think theyve gotten around to ruining that yet. The MLS, because of the USA's Constitution, cant discriminate (via its roster regulations) against persons based on their National Origin (which is the case in a Mexico or abroad). So a player with a Green Card, not a player without a Green Card, becomes protected under USA law against discrimination of their national origin in the max # of foreign players a MLS team can roster.
I’ll give him the benefit of thinking it was related to soccer a la red or yellow card. If not, I’ll laugh a lot
That kinda what Michael Bradley is?? Had no idea immigration cards came into play at all for MLS players. Can't they just fast light that like mlb??? Does MLB ever come into this issue?? This seems weird as fuck. Is it discrimination if they are better?
I know what a Green Card is for work/immigration, but had no idea it tied into soccer roster spots. TIL
Pretty sure in MLB they are here on work visas and not with green cards, although I’m sure some get them eventually.
Cool. The MLS system is confusing as fuck and I'm still learning all the cap terms and how rosters can be constructed
Also you can get Green Cards in a year if you want them and apply especially if you have special ability. McCann and Jones got them before the season and then Kratz midway through but some players don’t want them due to taxes, etc and just have visas.
There arent International Roster rules like that in MLB. Just MLB parameters for international signings and the draft. Once Puerto Ricans became subject to the domestic draft rather than international framework....I dont think there were any further issues with the MLB treating domestic and internationals differently. All different rules meet the rational basis reasoning. And once the player is in the MLB, theyre all treated the same.
Work Visas arent candy. For almost all Footballing nations. You have to meet whatever criteria is currently in place. Obviously the better the lawyer, the more likely it happens quicker. And from the player perspective, there are reasons to not want to work under Green Cards.
