we didnt have room for him cap-wise, but still held his rights (which I think we retained via good faith negotiating). Had Minnesota and D.C. bid against each other to negotiate for those rights. D.C. worked out terms with Asad's club, and has the TAM$ to buy down his contract so that he's not a designated player. Nice win for us given his salary demands are too high. $500k allocation money will go a long way for a guy we paid like $150k for last offseason.
I was going to say this move is so MLS. Trade fake money for a player who hasn't been under contract since the season ended and was on loan originally anyway.
You can stream the preseason match tomorrow on United's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/AtlantaUnitedFC/
Asad deal "a deal that will send $300,000 in targeted allocation money and $200,000 in general allocation money to Atlanta over the next two years. Should Asad stay in MLS in 2020, Atlanta will receive another $100,000 in GAM."
made something like $2m in allocation money and transfer fees for players we hadn't paid a dime to acquire
Like the the pattern is the whole jersey. I saw a mock or leak earlier that made it look like it was just one one side. Hope that the shorts/socks are "peach" colored also.
