I'm going to be rolling solo thursday night so it's easy to go see a show I want to that night. I just did some digging on bands in town after hipster joe came out with that list and thought if a band has a picture they have to be a little bit above the rest. I have come upon the quaker city nighthawks at The Continental. What is that place like?
If you had the option to be paying 100 / month more for a 1 bedroom towards over on the eastside (below the river), would you take that over saving cash in north austin ? (near the domain)
I've lived in North Austin since, like, 2004. I like it, you can get downtown in 20 minutes on the weekend with no problems. If you have a commute, it'll suck all the dicks. What part of the eastside? Once Oracle gets their campus built, that place is gonna blow up.
I might be on my way to Austin tomorrow afternoon for the weekend. Our firm has some attorneys going to Austin for some convention. There's an empty room for me at the Marriott.
We're getting a new downtown amphitheater BTW. Could hold 5,000. http://www.mystatesman.com/news/loc...over-new-amphitheater/3TgXjDUl9TC4VLhKqd0rXO/ The whole Waller Creek project has been a mess, but it looks like it's actually moving forward. Will be cool when/if it gets done.
I'm siding with yall. The problem is my apartment, not north austin. looking for a better one. Yep - was thinking of heading down to oltorf. The commute sucks but ive been riding the bus (also sucks, but im getting used to it, some free time on it.)
And I know they're trying to gentrify shit but it still looks kinda sketch. Domain is so cliche (right down to the yuppie white chicks walking around in yoga pants holding their yoga mats) but it's more my vibe
East Riverside is not bad at all. I wouldn't live south of Oltorf + East of 35. Oltorf pretty much the cutoff. Area over by Emo's is on the up and up. I'd live there over the domain 100% but mostly because all of my friends live downtown or south of downtown
Id depend this completely on your work commute (or whatever commute youre willing to put up with) being downtown is great, but being a little bit away from it is pretty nice too. 'work wife' lives in the domain and says there is always something to do there with rock rose and all the restaurants there lived at 620/2222 are for several years and you can get downtown really quickly on the weekends. live in the burbs now, but I cant complain.
Probably closer to 10. I live at 360 and 2222. Current office is on West Parmer. New gig is at MoPac and 360 so its a straight shot up 360. Should be great
My commute is 5.5m Woke up at 7:10, hauled ass to get dressed, drove normally and got to work at 7:35
....i'll be there. almost 100% sure we have little crew going. only thing that could stop us is food coma from crawfish at 2pm.
I'll be in town tonight. Airbnb for the evening. Free room at the Marriott the rest of the weekend. I want crawfish and music.
Wife and I are contemplating buying a condo at the new St. Elmo Public Lofts. Anyone know anything about the area or development?
looks like they bought the building where my old warehouse used to be, right by the music lab I relocated that warehouse 2 years ago, and at that point anything left outside would be gone the next morning warehouse had several attempted break ins over thr years, and it def wasnt trending in the right direction alarm would go off so often the APD was always trying to charge us false alarm fees but I'm sure thats the kind of hood you wanna live in
my favorite part of that little area was one of the neighbor warehouses was one of those groups where they hire hot chicks to do promotions like at bars giving out crown royal stickers, etc. always hots loading boxes in their cars every once and a while they would throw away a bunch of boxes of alcohol related promotional stuff, and the next morning that shit would be scattered all over the place like a dog had gotten in the trashcan, cept it was bums tossing through all that shit thinking there might be a bottle in there was nice too cause nobody ever cleaned up aftet that mess, so the wind would be the only thing to eventually take it all away
yea south first/soco south of ben white... it gets shady very very quickly. area isn't on the gentrification radar to my knowledge
I'm not sure what that smiley is for... manchaca, south of ben white - ok. south first/soco, south of ben white - not so much. please reference post #1680 on this page if you need an example?
never been there but Veracruz is pretty fucking high on the Taco Totem Pole. Their corn tortillas are the shit and the al pastor are top notch Maria's probably the only better al pastors I've had
$20* thanks. Might be using the code again on the girls phone later. Guessing you get a free ride too?
the torchy's out by me on Spicewood is a test kitchen apparently the alabama shake was amazing. they were out of the scallywag and my stomach was not happy at first, but damn that taco is amazing. gf got the tipsy chick and it was good too. i hope they make it a taco of the month soon, or even a regular taco
If you will be back in Austin soon, just use your own code to refer her, otherwise yes, should give me a second free ride (up to $20 it sounds like)
It was weird it told me I got the $20 then said paying with my CC. Not sure if it worked. I'm at moonshine. Bars soon.
