theyve re-done so many others in town the last few years I am really surprised they havent got to that one yet.
40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz concert at Bass Concert Hall 4/13. Presale tomorrow w/ code: CARAVAN Warren Haynes heading it up should be awesome
183 and Spicewood with a sub-$600 mortgage Beer snobs should try out Mort Subite at 3rd and Congress. Having a fine IPA right now.
Bought a condo in 2007 before the real estate market went total ape shit. Then refinanced down. It's a sweet deal. Place is nothing special, but it's 1200 square feet and have an HEB within 2 minutes, an Alamo Drafthouse within 5 minutes and the Domain and all its fake tits within 10 minutes.
Austin Music Awards were lit af Longform on the history http://www.austinchronicle.com/features/2017-03-03/35-years-of-the-austin-music-awards/
If any of you are into gaming places, Vigilante is top notch. By Lamar and St Johns in same strip as Black Star.
Tentative personal SXSW highlights Partying with Jake Tapper Friday night Show with Survive Saturday for about 50 people Sessions with the Vatican, Joe Biden and Gareth Edwards Also JOHN CENA A thing with Adrian Grenier (Vinnie Chase from Entourage) WU-TANG An odd back-to-back of the Avett Brothers and Oliver Heldens Session with Dan Rather on media under Trump An even odder back-to-back-to-back of Gary Clark Jr. to Ryan Adams to K-Pop night Private show with an artist TBA (sign up for Sofar Sounds y'all) Last Saturday night is tbd, but I know Bud Light is shelling out big dollars for someone at 800 Congress
Is Samsung still doing a surprise headline-type concert somewhere? I know the venue they used to do it at is rubble now
Went to Lucy's chicken last night for the first time that wasn't an office lunch. (date night with the GF, her idea not mine ) Fried deviled eggs were fucking great buffalo chicken tenders hot basket mac n cheese mash tates and gravy wash it down with a couple of Pearls. gundyfat. but oh so good
yeaaaaa got back together with a girl I met at pure that I dated from early november until around the NCG. you just know you can't let someone go that will get stoned, eat some fried chicken and drink cheap beer, and then have some good sex afterwards. that and I've been single for like 3.5 years and this is the first one i really wanted to date so out of all the dating app chicks in that previous time span that's gotta be saying something. I'll let my ATX TMB frands crash the reception in 2019
I successfully argued that Road House was the greatest film of 1989 to a SXSW Rotten Tomatoes panel. Yes, I am a extraordinarily proud.
I'm next door right now. That's a hell of a line. Seeing S U R V I V E (perfect branding) and Aloe Blacc tonight.
Had a decent day bouncing around yesterday considering the shitty weather and all. Craftsman SXShuckoff oyster specials and prosecco on draft Went downtown for a little bit to just walk around and came across a "SXSW Second Stage" happy hour a new spot that opens next week: Austin Taco project. Place is bomb but really pricey. It's a better version of Iron Cactus... small street tacos that are ~$5 each but they're fucking great and cunty. Guy named Mobley was playing there. Really really entertaining one man band check him out. His SXSW schedule is on his IG: Mobleywho mostly free shows Roommates Gf got us into a W2O open bar + terry blacks catered event at Scoot Inn for night time concerts. Got shit hammered on Knob Creek Rye and heard one duo "LOLO" I think. Chick had some pipes.
Strooooong showing by our local ride shares... Ride Austin and from what I heard fasten as well - crashed from 10:30-12 last night. We had to use Fare and the driver mentioned a lot of people talking about it
Now officially an employee of Dogwood Rock Rose...not tending bar yet but when I do, comped drinks for yall MFs Domain is BANGING these days, rock rose is on par w/ west 6. So much talent. 77 Degrees is crawling w/ hot sluts mane
Garth was a good ole fashioned sing along of his greatest hits. Stage setup w/ downtown backdrop was A+. As for the show you either like yelling Garth brooks lyrics or you don't. Reminded me of a Jimmy Buffet concert. Heard Wu Tang was good but Erica Badu opened for them and practically got kicked off stage. Like all she did was spin/dj
That exact thing happened with her opening for wu tang at sxsw in like 2011. It was trash and the crowd was having none of it.
Can confirm Eryka Badu was trash. 45 minutes late and then played 20 minutes of....whatever. Just killed the energy in the room. Thievery Corporation followed, and were great. Wu-Tang was fun although a little disjointed.
Eryka and Lauryn Hill are legends but they literally do this every fucking time they have a gig. I cant even recount the number of times ive heard someone describe seeing them where it starts with "so she was like an hour late..." lol
hahahaha that is dead on. Lauryn is especially upsetting in this regard because she pretty much shows up to play 1 album. Don't get me wrong. I have The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill on vinyl. Its amazing. But almost 30 years later the idea that she can just shit on people paying to see her makes me think she is beyond delusional
