There are no winners on this one. Uber is a huge douchebag of an enterprise and Austin bent over for the cab lobby. I will be happy if it cuts down on drunk driving though
It could totally be great for you. I am just saying I don't view this as good guy uber vs bad guy city of Austin. Uber and its CEO have pretty much proven themselves to be pretty easy to hate and the city did some pretty sketchy shit too. I have zero issue with them coming back and like i said, if it cuts down on drunk driving im all for it, I just don't think either side is especially great
The city council was playing inside pool and I know that for a 100% fact. They are the bad guy in the whole saga. That doesn't mean I'm saying uber is the good guy, but they tucked their nuts and offered to comply with the city's demands. The city told them to fuck off. Sxsw had a nightmare evening when two of the ride shares systems went down. As a consumer, I win if uber and Lyft come back to Austin. How do you win if they don't, and what possible benefit could you obtain from the city getting its way on this?
I must not be explaining my position clearly. I have never stated there would be a benefit to uber not coming back. You posted what amounted to "city of austin sucks" to which I replied what amounted to "both parties involved suck." That is the extent of my position. I am totally ok with uber and lyft coming back. I was just saying both sides of this issue are pretty shitty. Thats it.
Yea I mean fuck both of them for all I care. But you said there are no winners on this one and it's a clear win for uber and I'm betting it's very likely a win for me. It's also a loss for a group of people that weren't operating above table, and these people make austin a less attractive place to live overall, which pisses me off.

Yea I'm sure they both suck. But combining fucktard city council members with private equity is a situation that really eats at me when I see their campaign be successful knowing what a snow job it is. They don't have the city's best interest at heart (hardly any major city council does I'm sure) and it's always really bothered me how the whole deal was spun as some home town win against a corporate bad actor. I've seen a small part of who stood to benefit and it really depressed me knowing it was that easy to deceive the public.

There is no lineup. They release the info after the next show. So the next show is June 14th with Grupo Fantasma and they will release the next band after that. The next dates are July 12 and August 2.
Great show last night. Really disappointed with my crew. Me and my boy roll up there at 6:15 like decent humans. setup shop, drink, smoke, hang with a couple other people that know the correct way to do it and came out early. Had to save 7 goddamn spots for people so we started pretty far back (~25 yards behind the main middle walkway). These people roll in at like 8-8:30. They're all gung ho sit down and start pounding minis. Couldn't really hear Walker that great. Jamestown comes on and I can barely hear the song. start packing my shit up to go up to the front where it's standing folks. and got like 5 people all "where are you going we just got here don't be lame!" No motherfucker. I came for the show and I got here 2 hours before you to do all the hanging out I wanted to do. I'm doing it right. You're doing it wrong. FOH

Hey gents, Y'all helped me out a ton for my trip to Austin in February and I loved it so much that I'm coming back for a few days this weekend. I can go back and look at earlier recs y'all gave me for bars/food, so no questions there. However, is there anything special I should look at with it being MDW? It was damn cold and rainy when I was there earlier this year, so didn't get outdoors besides a quick bike ride around Zilker.

If I want to dip out to grab drinks, is ride Austin best of the bunch? Used fasten last year and it was ok but didn't seem like they had many drivers.
