The Gold's in Austin are funny how stereotyped they are and all are 100% accurate: Downtown: Gay Meatheads and IG thots Ben White: Minority Meatheads and trashy chicks William Cannon: Latinas (who are too classy for ben white) and Average Joe lifters Westlake & Bee Caves: Plastic Cougars, their husbands and highschool kids I do WCannon and fall in love with a different latina everyday. Or Westlake if I'm working out before work because it's right by my office
Looking at a 1x1 at TownHollow on SLamar tomorrow. 645sqft, all hardwood, fireplace, balcony. ONLY $1250. 60sqft bigger than my first apartment and has a balcony and a "dining room" that will make a nice home office. I can live with that rent for a few years just because I think that little area is the best in the city
Went to the Dawes show last month. I sweated my nuts off. Five free beers is good! But it's Bud Lite, so ehhhhh But free music is good!
I drove down early and worked in a coffee shop before. I got there early, which was a mistake as the AC area wasn't open yet. Get there at, like 8, and it's ok. I told my Statesman peeps that they should try to be Fader Fort next year, but God forbid newspapers make money.
OMG Sarah Barthel just does it for me BRB, rubbing one out in the Stubb's(?) port-a-potties RTX is super fun and y'all should be wasting hours at work consuming their content
Going to franklins on Saturday morning with some buddies that have never been, how early should we get there? I've only been on week days
singing my lease there tomorrow. last weekend living downtown this weekend. gonna be out of town most of next week. moving starting on 7/25. Will not miss it at all.
BOTG last night was solid AF. cloudy and windy for a little bit made it bearable weather wise. First band that came on was pretty badass if you like blues rock: Jackie Venson. After 2 songs we were all like who is playing guitar for this chick dude can shred. People in front of us turn around and say nah that's her. Gat Damn. Check her out she's legit she's playing again at shady grove acoustic tonight. goin to see that one as well
Taking the doctor from the tinder thread. Changed to Baby A's purples instead of standing in this heat. Still get the music without as much sweat
if anyone's interested in an open bar/food pool party fundraiser at Mt. Bonnell mansion PM me in the next few hours. $44 with our promo code. the talent on the guest list is alarming... its like every bad bitch I've seen on dating apps. date is august 12

I'm heading to San Antonio for a work trip in mid-September and am coming to Austin for a couple of days beforehand to check out the city with 1-2 friends. I've read through 20+ pages of this thread for some of the recommendations - one of the people I'm traveling with is a big planner - but is there anything I should add? I'm not too worried about finding the right bars; we'll just go to places that look fun. Also, I'm traveling with a vegetarian so if you know of any good veggie places to eat, she'd be appreciative. And is South Congress the best place to stay if we want to be relatively local but don't necessarily want to stay on 6th? Trying to book an airbnb relatively soon. <<Drinking>> Bangers (for brunch especially) Craft Pride (+Via 313 pizza) Lustre Pearl Bar 96 Kung Fu Saloon <<Tacos>> Torchy's Maria's Vera Cruz Taco Deli Cabo Bobs <<Sushi>> Uchi Bar Chi Sushi (reverse happy hour) <<Food>> Odd Duck Launderette <<BBQ>> Franklin BBQ Micklethwait La BBQ <<Other things/Outdoors>> Enchanted Rock Loop Trail Greenbelt Trail (Loop 360?) Shit it may be sold out. They added 10 more tickets a couple hours ago after the original allotment sold out. Roll with me and my boy
Yep. The Tuesday night Punch! show has been awesome the few times I've been. Each time there was a half dozen locals and then one big name that'd been on some kind of late night show etc. my ex is good friends with some of their house/host comedians and they're good. Season 2 of this year just ended so I don't think it starts back up until November unfortunately.
The annual "Funniest Person in Austin" contest up there was awesome too. The guy that won it isn't even a comedian... regular guy with a day job that just decided to give it the ole college try and I was really impressed he's got good delivery
A guy I work with is knowledgeable about the comedy scene and I've heard him rave about the club numerous times.
decent prices on everything. think there's a 2 drink minimum I just smoke before and drink a couple of dos
TMB Austin social ideas - rent a boat - hotel bar day drinking - pool party - bbq at someones house (we all bring shit) - happy hour (traffic makes this unlikely) - sunday funday? rainey or the domain - outdoor concert
we rented a boat and went to lake austin last weekend, classier than lake travis and nice scenery. We had a cooler and dropped anchor in the cove A+ time. Gotta have some bitches tho, dont want a sausage fest
been raining since like midnight. hope it continues for the next 2-3 days. finally get some fucking greenbelt flow going
Pros: We avoid our fine city burning down for another year Gets the rivers back up Keeps the temperatures goddamn reasonable in August for once Probably means I can go to the Hideout Pub and get a table easily Everything's gonna turn back from brown to green instantly Cons: Motherfucking humidity jesus christ the swamp ass All the bugs Everyone's driving IQ automatically lowers from double to single digits Probably gonna flood like a motherfucker again Yeah the rain is nice. Will take.
