I'm up north in the burbs I actually need gas, and I'll be out later than usual so hopefully some left
Lot of stations empty and others have lines around the block Great time to just get back into town with a quarter tank
At about 1/5th of a tank and no place nearby has gas Good thing football starts this weekend so I can just veg out on the couch and wait this idiocy out
I have a little over half a tank left, so by the time this is over in 3 days I will refill at my own leisure. It doesn't help that it's Labor Day weekend so that adds to peoples angst before they get on the road.
Glad I filled up on my way to the airport yesterday morning. Was very close to saying fuckit and getting it Sunday when I get back.
The texting while driving law went into effect today, fine between $25-$99 Also this Open-carrying swords and machetes Blades more than 5.5 inches in length are being permitted for open-carry in public places. The law, though, prohibits swords and machetes in most bars, schools, colleges, sporting events, polling places, race parks, correctional facilities, hospitals, amusement parks and places of worship.
been watching gas buddy after riding on fumes the last few days and noticed one by my house had gas around 5 this morning. there was still a line but now I have the gas
Some asshole labeled a station like a half mile from me as having gas as a false flag People are such scum
I was bummed about this. didnt go there a ton, but it was always solid. there is a good mediterranean place a little down the road closer to 183 called al marah if you havent tried it.
anyone have good lunch spots in fredericksburg? proposing to the gf this weekend with a big group (around 10 total) of people coming to town for it and i want to find a nice spot for lunch in town
Congrats (hopefully) - girl I know from fred says Hondo's on Main is the easy choice and since the weather will be nice you'd have a really good scene on the back patio + some live music for celebration afterwards.
hondos is pretty good, not exactly romantic if thats what you are looking for stexraider knows freddyburg pretty well and has never steered me wrong with suggestions
Grape Creek winery is highly recommended and they were putting in a Tuscan style restaurant when I visited a few years ago
Two places I like are Otto's and Navajo Grill but neither are open for lunch. Hondo's is a super casual outdoor place to drink a long neck beer. Which could be perfect or not depending on what you are looking for.
sunset grill was really good last time I was there. its a breakfast/lunch only place. still casual, but 'nice'.
Same. Dinner at St Elmo's ...anyone have a scouting report on it? I was at Austin Winery last week and that seemed to be pretty new/lots of potential (also made me think selling booze is pretty easy)...but I'm expecting something a bit more uppity at St Elmo's Speaking of booze places...I was at jester Kings on Sunday. 3 years on and those mfs still don't have enough infrastructure to keep a manageable queue for indoor service.
have a date lined up with this chick for tonight. asked her yesterday about the go-to hey you wanna do shady grove acoustic? got a "can we do something more north like the domain?" Someone help me out here as that's outside of my south austin bubble... probably just drinking and watching foosball. but recs for casual/fun 1st date dinner + drinks (preferably with TVs) are cool too
North Italia's a good 1st date dinner spot (excellent food too) although it's a bit light on TV options. Culinary Dropout's alright.
culinary dropout is a pretty happening place in the domain. good hangout and covered patio with games/tvs
Rule #1: soup spot on the 1st date maybe notsomuch Culinary Dropout looks fun and casual gonna suggest that
Amazon has announced plans for a new North America headquarters - like, $5 billion big. I'd think we'd be in the mix.
Wouldnt surprise me at all. Oracle is making Austin its second largest office is the US. Google just moved into its new office and will eventually have 5k employees at 500 w 2nd. Its a logical selection
Austin is a major player. So is Nashville. This deal is huge. 50k jobs. Billions in local economy. I feel like Austin will win, and it will be the official death of the old Austin, for better or worse.
