Made reservations at Contigo, Launderette, Emmer and Rye and Odd duck for dinner this coming weekend since I have friends in town and am worried about not being able to get a table. Meaning I definitely won't be using some of them if someone happens to want one later in the week
yea if you can hit a reasonably straight drive you should score well. greens are easy and it's rock hard. even with rain the ball should get some solid roll.
So Gibson rearranged the main bar Thursday. And it’s amazing. Booths are all along the wall facing in. Long tables are turned going front to back. White tables in the middle. It’s wide open and awesome. The wood Long tables are sweet now
Yeah I'm not sure what it's like in the winter. You could stay one night in Terlingua or Lajitas. Terlingua is literally outside the entrance to the national park so it's a good launching spot for Big Bend. I stayed in this Air BnB and it was great. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4663560?s=51 There are a couple cool restaurants in Terlingua to drink, eat, listen to live music and people watch at. Starlight and La Kiva. The bbq place trailer is pretty good too. Can't remember what its called. I actually didn't love Marfa but it is impressive from a modern arts scene. It has become super trendy. The drive from Marfa to McDonald Observatory is very pretty. Keep in mind it takes a good hour and a half to two hours to drive between some of the towns out there. Lajitas has a nice golf course but if its too cold to golf you can literally just drive by and check it out on the way to do the state park drive route, which I also highly recommend in addition to the national park.
Depends on where you are staying We stayed in Alpine and did a day excursion to Terlingua, and a day to cruise through the Davis Mountains and the observatory, half day in marfa ending after dark trying to see the lights
what's your schedule look like for ACL shows? Pretty much got my schedule dialed in with a little window saturday for just walkin around doing whatever Fri: asleep at the wheel, lewis capaldi, Bishop Briggs (maybe), Noname, Golden Dawn, Greta, gryffin, brock hampton, odesza, silent disco (gonna be on that dancin mol mol) Sat: Jackie V, Durand, Curtis Harding, Smino ___________ Metallica Sun: Lemaitre, amber mark, Paul Revere, Arizona, Bahamas, Janelle monae, houndmouth, phoenix, sylvan esso goin to 1st Thursday tomorrow night to kick off the weekend. hood b. goode meeting some 42yo there who is one of the hottest women i've ever seen and has a crew of late 30s early 40s cougar friends. Getting up early friday for Threadgills HAAM broadcast. then ACL for the weekend. No late night shows this week. Wednesday Golden Dawk Arkestra + Wild Child at Stubbs Friday Sylvan Esso + Durand Jones ( Durand is my sleeper pick for best undercard ACL show) at Stubbs Saturday Manchester Orchestra at Emo's Probably be in real real bad shape by Sunday the 14th but we're planning on doing Fright Fest at Fiesta that day. (goin w that blond from Gibson, Hood... kinda been hangin out a lot)
also question for anyone that has experience - AMEX doing the main east end stage. Saw something about AMEX cashless = special line to get in on west bsprings entrance (cool but i'm coming from lamar... would the security for this line be more lenient? stricter? n/a just depends on the checker like usual?) $5 credit awesome so almost a beer Special "patches" on merch like they're gonna stick an Amex patch on anything that I would buy? Don't even think I want that shit and the real question - AMEX club member area. Sounds cool but how packed is it? I'm sure it's at capacity most of the time but has A/C, bar, charging stations, "refresh bar" and a deck with views of the Amex stage. I know it was a Samsung deal for years when that was the stage - anyone do it then? from what I read on the interwebs when it was samsung it was always so packed that you waited in line to get in for like an hour and they made you leave after like 2-3 songs? idk I'm hoping since it's amex that could cut down on the crowd because a bunch of younger people probably don't have amex's and a lot of people in general don't know about it. none of my friends or coworkers did until i told them today
ayyy ill most likely go and turn up Im hitting weekend 2 Odesza, Wayne, Travis holla if any the aftershows this week are good. thought about seeing snoop but bumble putting it out there means every basic bitch and bro gon go. My plug has gone AWOL (I only do it 2x-3x a year, and odesza is good a time as any) Also if u tryna get into the silent disco game, come to the monthly ones at Belmont
It was ok, as a family man it sure shut down early for places to eat Years earlier as a single man I had more bar experience at Railroad Blues which was pretty good times

Looking at: Friday - Gang of Youths - Alvvays - David Byrne - Greta Von Fleet - Gryffin - Brockhampton - Fucking PAUL MCCARTNEY Saturday - Japanese Breakfast - Sofi Tukker - Sharon Von Etten - Chvrches - St. Vincent - Justice (Fuck Mitallica( Sunday - Twin Shadow - Parquet Courts - Janell Monae - REZZ - Phoenix - Illenium - Arctic Monkeys
That may be the one where I try out the AMEX club deal since it’s early daytime tomorrow and at the Amex stage. Looked at my schedule and it’s one of like 3 total shows on that stage the entire weekend
Really hope we dont get crazy thunderstorms all weekend. Zilker is gonna be a shitshow if we have all that rain.
Whoa. Tony. Easy with the Ju Ju now. If anything it’ll be a refreshing mist that just keeps the temp down in the 80s with clear sunny skies after
Good rec. she was solid although her first 7 songs kinda sounded like the exact same song and then played the river song. she was sneaky sexy too. said it during the show I bet she kills it in the lesbian/bi game Odesza was fucking amazing. Didn't have super high expectations because I only know a few of their songs but that was an awesome show. The drum line is tight as hell and they had a really good light show. Got to see that and then catch the last 6 songs for Paul. Feel bad for people who went to 2 full hours of Paul Father John Misty put on a lot better show than I was expecting and Golden Dawn Arkestra was the weirdest thing I've ever been a part of.
Paul was awesome I've seen Golden Dawn a few times. It's like if acid did more acid. Gang of Youths was a really good early show.
Paul was a lot better than I expected. But also confident I saw the best 45 minutes of his show after seeing the best show of the day. Rage with the kids + Sing along with the oldies. It’s about balance Both of them had a lot of fireworks and pyro shit pretty great
Hope everyone had fun. My highlights: McCartney Janelle Monae Chvrches (I’ll cop to being in love with Lauren Mayberry though) Phoenix not giving a fuck and just having fun
exactly what you'd think he was... giant white folks sing along. but he played every good song you'd want. Had no idea who Justice was until saturday night when they came on. We ended up like 20 yards from the front. As far as DJs go... damn good show.
So I was offered a job in Austin. Looks like the office is near the Domain area. If I go forward with the offer, would y'all suggest living somewhere in that Domain area or more towards downtown? I'm a single 30 year old.
I think either would be fine. I live off of Burnet Road in between 45th and Anderson lane. I’d highly suggest looking in this area too if you want to be between the two areas.
My ideal area would be Mueller I think. Domain is very nice and being in my early 30s I’d personally prefer living there over downtown but mileage may vary.
Was able to make it from mopac/Cesar chavez to near Parmer/McNeil in about 15mins during rush hour* *lunch rush hour
