The Butler Park / Long Center area of the trail has some lit areas at night IIRC. Nothing on the Zilker side at all though.
Anyone else a FB coach/ teacher in the area? Sounds like athletics might get cancelled all together. Sucks.
Just went for a jog around town lake. Holy nutsack its hot outside. About 50% of the people were wearing masks and it was crowded. Mostly old people maskless....
Do you have to wear a mask outside there now? I don’t wear one in Houston when I run outside but I’m also never even close to being 20ft from other people in the park. I was curious how it would come into play in crowded parks or trails.
I bought a nice one to run in just in case they make it mandatory but haven’t used it yet because I haven’t been to any of the big public parks. If they require it I’ll gladly wear it. We’re fortunate enough that our park is private and there’s really never any way to be near someone unless you made an effort to walk over to them. I hope they enact the same thing as Austin and can fine individuals for not wearing them here.
i went for a nice long dog walk in the late afternoon yesterday and was similarly surprised at how many people weren't wearing masks. not even runners or bikers; just people walking.
What park are you going to? I hit the buffalo bayou/memorial trails about 4 times a week. People everywhere. Very few with masks on. I try to stay clear of everyone.
It’s open. They have key code things on the gates to get in but they don’t lock them, only the ones for our apartments. Anyone could just park on the street and come into the park if they wanted to. It’s “private” but it’s really not. People just don’t come here cause they think it’s locked.
Well boys the moving truck showed up today to take us to the next spot. Austin was pretty a pretty awesome place to live for 7 years definitely gonna miss that heavenly 704 bubble. New firm i'm gonna be partner at is based here though and my crew is old enough to have houses with a spare bedroom now so I'll be in town pretty regularly.
I just heard from a guy at Eanes isd who said he is hearing the city & County is about to announce a shutdown of sorts to include schools, that they won't be able to open until sometime in September
Now that I've moved away, light rail from the second closest bus stop to where I lived (Koenig) - direct to the airport. https://capmetro.org/uploadedFiles/New2016/ProjectConnect/Maps/PCON_System_Plan_Map.pdf
how often do y'all see cockroaches in your place and what do you use to kill them? my apartment is on the top floor and only half furnished right now. i keep it pretty damn clean, too. i've seen 3-4 in a month now and the one tonight was the biggest of all and on the kitchen counter. i didn't have anything to spray it with and/or kill it so i just had to watch it run away to the corner, furthest away from my bed. i don't have experience with these bugs and they're terrifying. what should i do?
I just found out I'm moving back to Austin in about 6 weeks. It's been a long 2+ year hiatus in Dallas and I can't wait to get back :D
Moving back to Texas end of the month. Goodbye Seattle, hello Austin. Will now have lived in the big 3 in Texas (fuck you San Antonio)
Alex Jones trending for yelling through a bullhorn at teenagers saying he had to wear a mask to enter Barton Springs. I see that he was arrested for drunk driving in March in the area, does this shitheel live around Austin?
paddle board shacks were finally open for the first time in 2 months got cooked to a crisp this afternoon but too high to care
my yaks have been tied to the dock since last Sunday 6 year old and I have been out on them almost every day. Its been hot but a great way to cool off My shoulders were killing me a couple of days ago
I’m moving to the area at the end of next month and won’t know anyone except my parents in New Braunfels. Anyone know of any fun day trips I can take to hike or go on a nice drive on weekends just to get out and explore?
Holy shit. There are a lot of options Check out 'the daytripper' on pbs Austin (you should be able to watch the episodes online somehow) Lots of great stuff on there
In my opinion, the worst place to get sunburn. Just absolute hell since there are no shoes or socks that feel comfortable.
The job may require a move to Austin next summer/fall (from Chicago), so we are beginning to look into neighborhoods and areas (office out in Bee Cave but we prefer to live in the city). Anyway thought this may be interesting to y’all... Heard today that San Francisco to Austin is the #1 UHaul route in the US in June and July, and Austin is its #3 destination city so far this year (it was #6 last year). I keep thinking cost of living and buying a house there will be less - maybe not?
Not shocked, check this (on desktop) https://marker.medium.com/austin-wa...con-valley-then-the-pandemic-hit-6d5f5a332e04 and welcome
