Little sister (19) is coming to town for 10 days in January, any ideas what Zoomers like to do around town these days?
Reminds me of the time a buddy had his ~16 year old niece come spend a week with he and his wife. They spent the whole week dragging her to all this stuff to see and do. He said she never seemed interested, just spent the whole time texting away on her phone, took a few selfies but other than that just sat around not talking, seemingly completely uninterested. They dropped her off at the Airport just completely defeated. Were suddenly convinced they were unfit to ever have kids of their own. Then as they are driving home, his wife went on Facebook and saw the neice posting all these pictures of her trip and talking about the awesome trip she just had in Texas with her aunt and uncle.
If it's this weekend then there's a free week/weekend of concerts on Red River that could potentially be both fun and a superspreader event
My grandma in Austin passed away last month. Been going there 2/3x a year to visit her for 30+ years and bummed I won’t be able to see her again. It was where all the cousins aunts/uncles hung out over the holidays and over summer break. Most of my relatives live in Texas but not in Austin so looking like they’ll sell the house. They’re in the process of figuring out if they want to spruce the place up before selling or sell the house as is. It’s off William Cannon and Westgate (3br 2ba). Is the Austin market still hot enough for “as is” sales?
Wife just accepted a job in the Leander/Cedar Park area. Will be making the move from East Texas near Tyler in a couple months. Not thrilled about the upcoming hunt for a house.
Longview, so about 30 minutes east but most people are more likely to know where Tyler is than Longview in my 15 years here.
New firm reimburses up to $1200 of gym membership fees annually. Decided to utilize that and join back at Lifetime. Went to the WCannon location yesterday afternoon and Gaaaawd Damn I forgot about that place being the beautiful peoples club. Fell in love at least 3 times. That "workout hobo" sweatpants and sportsbra combo is sexy as hell. Honestly don't remember seeing a hot girl in there that was wearing an actual shirt
The downtown location is meh, I'm debating switching to equinox, its just hard when I can walk 5 min to the gym but they keep raising the prices. Its 180/month for new members!
Any one in here live north of downtown? I do and I’m looking for a gym good for lifting. I live right across the street from Crux North and always wanted to try rock climbing so I’m leaning towards joining there
Aaaaah I was curious what the price was there. When I lived at the Monarch I did Lifetime/Pure for that reason too. Get home from work > walk 100 yards to the gym > across the street to whole foods for dinner supplies. I think it was only $125ish at the time. Main Lifetime membership is $129 now and you have to upgrade to the $180/mo to have your membership reciprocated at the downtown location. Was never a huge fan of it I feel like it's full of 40-50 year old women that have house accounts at botox facilities. I know a few of the cycle teachers at Equinox. If I could handle riding a bike for exercise I'd 100% join because they're also some of the hottest girls I've ever met. I remember Core Power yoga next door to Monarch being a constant stream of 10s walking in and out. Probably will get back into that yogi life somewhere like that this spring.
We used to go to Austin Bouldering Project years ago and they had a really solid gym if you're just going for the main olympic style lifts. It kinda looked like a crossfit style gym attached to the rock climbing portion. Not much by the way of ancillary machines and stuff though. I heard good things about Austin Simply Fit back when I lived by the South Lamar location Lifetime also has a location up north IIRC that gives you free SUP/Kayaking on the "lake" that's on the property. And they have a rock climbing wall
Went to the LA fitness on burnet for a few years Crossfit class member now with lumos fitness collective on the eastside. a cool $200/mo but ive never worked out this hard. trying not to be a lazy sack of shit now that i wfh full time
I can only imagine. South Congress + Equinox might be the most attractive ratio per capita in the world. I went to equinox when I lived in Miami and loved it, but I'm still at the monarch. I love spinning buy I've developed patellar tendonitis from my peloton.
one chick i've been talking to for a few months has nothing but god awful things to say about OT's entire system of managing their gym. some of the stuff gave me 2nd hand anxiety. I think the most ridiculous situation was that she joined a WAITLIST for a class that was full and then rescheduled for a class 2 hours before that, that actually had a spot for her to workout, and they fucking charged her $15 for "cancelling a class she RSVP'd to attend"..... what in the fuck. Probably 3-4 other instances that were pretty similar to this where they essentially hand out fuckin fines like candy, at least at the South Lamar location under Lamar Union.
I'm pretty sure I mentioned it years ago when I was going to them regularly but the Outdoor Voices free yoga classes at Republic Square Park they do in the spring and summer are the highest concentration of attractive females I've ever seen.
