Why did he get pulled over in the first place. No way they could see he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt with that dark tint, right?
Like 99% of these bad cop incidents stem from Police interacting with civilians like parents interact with their toddlers, "DO THIS BECAUSE I SAY SO". The need to "win" the conversation escalates the dumbest of interactions into newsworthy events
Someday, what people will have to look themselves in the mirror and have an honest dialogue about is the reason why the police exist the way they do in the United States is because a significant portion of the population likes the way they operate. If white people in charge didn't like how the police were behaving, they would stop the cops from behaving like this. But many white people like this idea, and it makes them believe that they are safe when cops beat the fuck out of some black dude. Because it's been baked into their minds for decades that some black guy might come out to their white flight haven and take it away from them.
Miami Dade police gonna put out all the tapes but won’t say how fast he was going? Did I miss the report? Did they actually get a radar gun on him?
Tyreke said in the vid when he was talking the the other cop they told him he was doing 55 in a 40mph area so thats why he said cool just give me my ticket then.
Saw a ton of “he was going 100+ mph!1!1!” So I thought it might behoove them to set the record straight
I didn't see a radar in the video of him driving by. He was going faster than the other cars but nothing wild.
It’s absolutely ridiculous how programmed I am when dealing with the cops. I grew up in a place and time where the cops would absolutely beat the shit out of you and would kill you without a second thought. I am of a certain hue that makes my life worth less to them. I never claim to be a huge guy but I’m not small and the first question Id get when stopped was “what are you on parole for or what have you been in prison for”. My buddies taught me it is “yes sir no sir” when asked a question and shut the fuck up when you’re not being asked anything. My reaction is always why don’t they just shut the fuck up losing your life isn’t worth talking back. Before anyone starts arguing I understand that’s wrong of me. I understand that’s an issue with me and why the police are the way they are. I am glad more people are standing up for their rights. I just worry that when I get stopped the way I look can make the bullshit “I felt threatened” lie believable.
Thats why I'm glad Dominique Foxworth kind of stud up to SAS on first take when he was trying to chastise Hill bec of how he acted and saying as a black man you have to have behave a certain way to avoid the situation in order to make you make it home to your family which is bs that this country (myself included) still think like this. He told SAS that's a something you discuss with your friends family privately bec getting on a public forum to have that conversation just gives more ammo to the people who always find fault with the person getting arrested detained behavior as justification for why a cops unethical behavior occurred. While first ignoring the fact that the people who are supposed to be deescalating a situation constantly ramp it up to 100.
I just saw something that basically said to many of us and about 100% of cops mistake “comply” with “obey” all we need to is comply when they want us to obey. They want us to sit and beg like we’re dogs asking for scraps when all we need to do is comply. Hill and the woman in the video I posted both complied but the cops were pissed that they didn’t obey and become subservient to their “authority”. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get over my “fear” but I’m am glad others are doing what they’re doing.
I'm probably dating myself here, but does anyone remember the poster like 8-9 years ago who said it was his lifelong dream to be a lawyer and work for Israel Reyes of The Reyes Law Firm in Miami? Part of me wonders if he's working for those bad cops right now.
SIAP, but a Dorchester, SC sheriff left his K9 in the car w/o AC and it died. Put on desk duty, and demoted while getting their pay cut…things are still “under investigation” https://www.live5news.com/2024/09/19/dorchester-co-deputy-demoted-leaving-k-9-alone-hot-car/
I don't think there is anything wrong with this POV due to the current environment with police. Getting aggressive and arguing with police, even when right, is almost always a no win situation. Like the woman posted above. She had every right to tell that Cop to get the fuck out of her house, but what happened? Luckily there was a guy filming stopping others from intervening telling them "you're going to make it worse, you can't help/doing anything" It's about self preservation and often times survival. In no way does this POV excuse police for their actions. You just can't win in a lot of these situations. Tyreek essentially took this stance. He wasn't ever in the wrong, had officers being overly aggressive barking conflicting orders at him and escalating the situation. He pretty quickly "let" them arrest him and didn't fight it when they were 100% in the wrong. Hopefully there is justice and those officers are punished, but they'll probably just get hired to go terrorize citizens in another FL county. The entire police system/structure needs to be torn down and rebuilt. They immediately view every person they meet as the enemy vs doing a true public service
