I had to rewatch it multiple times after I read the article about this. The cop has already been cleared and apparently (according to the police) the guy had a gun in his hand.
I’m guessing the video is mirrored because just went and read the article saying he had a gun in his right hand (appears left in the video).
They would have to know he was going to fight back to convince me, that was really really Quick, they went there to kill that man
I don’t know what to say. I don’t think you should open the door to the cops. I don’t think you should open your door holding a gun. I especially don’t think you should open the door for the cops when holding a gun.
Of course. But at the same time, it's not illegal. If i go to my neighbor's house, he opens the door with a gun in his hand by his side, and i shoot him within a second, I'm going to jail for murder. Even if he had a gun, he made no movement to aim at someone. Cops shouldn't get a pass from murdering someone when they weren't doing something illegal just bc the cop is afraid to do their job correctly.
Buddy, sometimes I really wonder about you . Not intended as a slight, as I appreciate and respect you. Like, I get it, I love to argue. It’s one of my favorite things to do (have dialed it back a great deal through the years, both here and on social media). I even had a whole-ass paragraph hammered out that would’ve resulted in more discourse before opting to delete in favor of this response. But dude….
I never said “he shouldn’t do anything” . I am literally not giving the cops the benefit of the doubt in my first statement and in my second I’m at the very least implying that it’s not safe to open the doors to the cops. These are just things I don’t think anyone should do as a general rule. I was merely adding extra context especially since my first post seems to be incorrect (him not having anything in his hands when he opened the door). Me saying don’t open the door to cops and if you do don’t have a weapon isn’t absolving the cops from responsibility.
This is a good reminder that guns don’t make anyone safer. You might feel tougher, and more able to protect yourself, but you’re not more safe. I’ll never own a gun because if someone is knocking at my door at 2 am I’d feel tempted to have it in my hand when I opened the door. Sure, if I knew it was the cops I probably wouldn’t. But if they are hiding around the corner, or in plain clothes, I wouldn’t know any better. It all comes down who is faster with the trigger and that’s not a gamble anyone should want to take.
Anyone who thinks that they, or their family, are safer because a gun is in the house does not understand statistics at a middle school level.
Wild story. 18 year old was killed by police. Father went to police station to watch the video. He left and ran over the first cop he saw. https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/06/us/rodney-hinton-jr-cincinnati-denied-bond Prosecuting attorney Ryan Nelson requested the judge deny bail and presented testimony from a Cincinnati police officer who said Hinton Jr. had met with police officers and watched body-worn camera footage of the shooting death of his son on the day of the incident. The Cincinnati Police Department has said his son, Ryan Hinton, appeared to point a gun at an officer while fleeing last week, but the officer’s body camera footage does not clearly capture the moment. After the meeting, Officer Carl Beebe said Hinton Jr. left the parking lot of the police building, and briefly returned, before driving away. Hinton Jr. was “very distraught” after seeing the footage of his son, an attorney for the family, Michael Wright told the Cincinnati Enquirer. Beebe then described the fatal collision: “Based on witness statements as well as the video, the vehicle accelerated quickly, proceeded eastbound, crossed into the oncoming lanes of traffic … directly at where deputy Henderson was standing,” and struck the deputy. There was no evidence of skid marks or any other signs indicating Hinton Jr. tried to stop, according to Beebe.
A jury found the Tyre Nichols killers not guilty. I'll never understand how people can watch a video of someone beating someone to death and say not guilty.
Didn't see your post until now. Genuinely believe nothing was learned over the last 20 years in police brutality and we’re just going round and round. Cops are an organized gang and the United States will never change.
Yea sometimes I feel like I'm the crazy one. The story above about the guy killed by cops in the Jax jail came up in the office today and a colleague was all "What did he do to make them beat him so bad?" I mean he was handcuffed. Wtf could he have done? A lot of cops are just assholes on a power trip that get off on beating people. A large majority of our population can't grasp that. They just assume the cops are good guys there to protect and serve.
Not a cop, but the town's highway superintendent. Fired multiple shots at a doordash delivery driver that was looking for his delivery dropoff location, hitting him once. https://www.yahoo.com/news/york-town-official-facing-charges-054738010.html
Read about this story the other day. We're at a point in America where if anyone knocks on a door because they're lost, they have a high chance of getting shot at. I guaran-damn-tee you the shooter has unironically talked about how he used to play outside and all around the neighborhood when he was little whereas kids only want to stay inside these days.
It has been more than a year and a half since authorities in Georgia indicted 61 activists on racketeering charges in connection with protests against an Atlanta-area police training facility that critics derisively call "Cop City."— The Associated Press (@apnews.com) 2025-05-12T06:00:12Z
Not really sure where this belongs, but I don't think starting a bad highway superintendent thread will get much traffic (see what I did there?) https://westchester.news12.com/excl...hester-official-shooting-lost-doordash-driver John Reilly III, a highway department superintendent from Chester, NY & a federally licensed firearm dealer, shot a DoorDash delivery driver who was lost & looking for directions. The Texarkana Texas Police Department has arrested Zackary Gilley, 32, for sexual assault of a child. Gilley, who has been employed as a Texarkana Texas police officer since 2018, was placed on administrative leave just prior to his arrest at the police department Monday night.

again make the police union pay these settlements out there retirement funds and maybe they’ll stop. Take away qualified immunity
