I too am lazy when it comes to my hair, but I razor/shaving cream it twice a week at a minimum. Takes 5 minutes in the shower.
Once you start, it feels really good. Now I feel weird if I go more than two days without doing. Get a fogproof mirror for the shower and it'll fly by.
Think I may be joining the club this summer. Corners are starting to come in too far, and I can already see the back fading as well. Is it worth it to have my barber take a crack at making it look presentable, or just yolo it and take some clippers to it?
the turning point for me was when i saw the top of my head in a bar mirror and i could basically see right through to my scalp
It’s nicer to have your barber shave it but it is cheaper to do it yourself. I personally think it’s better to just shave it than to pretend you’re not going bald. I have been growing mine back but if I ever start to bald it will be shaved.
Oh I’m at that point already. Just nervous since I have some professional headshots coming in two weeks, and my sisters wedding at the end of June. Tough to pull the trigger without knowing how it’ll look. I was thinking of just buzzing it tight. I’ve had a two on the sides with a part on top for the last however many years. Need to ease my way into this.
I fought it forever. Had a big donut and receding at 26. Now I shave every 3 days in the shower and it’s great. Once you say fuck it you won’t go back.
Plus I keep a well trimmed beard. I’m no good looking guy by any means but it’s the best I’ve ever looked. Also did it when my ex left me and moved out. Needed a fresh change.
If you have headshots in 2 weeks do it tonight. That way you can get some sun on your dome and won’t look like a light bulb.
It really depends on how thin or thick it is up top in the middle. Some people can get good hair cuts and ride it out for years, but if you’re not in that category you need to go ahead and embrace it. I’d say it’s worth a shot to go to a barber and see if you can pull it off.
I’ll get one last haircut for the headshots, and then shave it after that. That’ll give time to figure out a style for the wedding. See above. Will shave it and then go from there and see how it grows back. If I like it shaved I’ll rock it, if not I’ll have time to get it back to something else. It is in fact an M :ohno:
Just buzz it down, but if you're a white guy make sure you have some kind of facial hair. Very few white guys can pull off the totally hairless look. Unless you have a godlike jawline, you're in constant danger of looking like a baby seal. I'm working my way back from a thick winter beard to more of a summer stubble bit by bit. Feels good to start thinning the beard once the warmer weather hits.
I can tell you from experience better off getting it done, because you will do it at some point so better to have the pictures as you are then some memory of trying to hold on. I shaved my hair the day after my wedding and haven't looked back. The response by everyone was why not do it sooner.
Oh, and I agree with the tanning advice. The first exposure to the sun my head had was Hawaii and it hurt like a mother fucker and I looked like one of the crooks from Home Alone with how red that one area was. get that out of the way.
Do it before the headshots. Once you buzz it and inevitably like it, you'll look back at those pictures forever and think you look ridiculous. I know from experience.
Yep. I was at at event in the sun right after I first shaved it. Got burnt and my dumbass try to shave it while peeling. Had to walk around with a hat for 2 weeks
Herein lies my problem. The balding is very real and I want to make the plunge to shave my head, but I am a firefighter and I can't have a beard, so I'm worried I'll look like a bigger idiot than I already do if I have zero hair anywhere on my face outside of my eyebrows. I suppose I could always just rock a mustache.
when we wear our SCBA masks it needs to make a tight seal on your face and a beard won't allow for it. We have a 24 hour rule that I think is a bit extreme but it is what it is at this point.
I would, but my wife hates it and my facial hair sucks in general. This is all I got for nine days on Spring Break: Spoiler
I’ve been thinking lately of using Nair. Something that will last longer than having to shave every 2-3 days.
Minoxidil is horrible. Ive been using minoxidil for almost a decade on my bald spot back of my head and ONE- i still have a very big bald spot TWO- it seems to be growing :(
I did last Friday. Certainly taking some getting used to but I like it. Sister wants it grown back for her wedding, which I will obliged, but after that I may stick with the bald.
It’s happening to me. Fucking bullshit genetics coming in and wrecking my shop. Front, sides, and back are all great but you can notice thinning at my crown if you look close enough. Trying to decide if I want to fight it with rogaine/propecia.
I have a question? When your hair started to go, where did it first start? Your corners, back of your head in the crown or just generally diffusing all on the top? - Mine started with my right corner
