The episode hasn't aired yet but I went to one of the recent rescues (George & Dragon in Phoenix) and other than putting up a new sign and cleaning the place up a little it looked almost the same. Same name, same drinks. Hell I think the owner improved the place by putting back up all the English football stuff (kits, scarves, etc.) Taffer made him take down and putting Sunday roasts back on the menu. I was pretty shocked how much he was losing. It's not in the greatest spot but it's a fun place to down some Newcastle and trivia. Always a decent crowd the few times I was there.
I don't watch anymore. Ive kind of soured on him to the point that I think he's a massive douche. However Im recording tonight's ep because The Guide says it's a Chicago bar. This also was interesting and popped up on my twiter http://www.redeyechicago.com/restau...huffington-post-interview-20160331-story.html
https://chicago.eater.com/2017/8/9/16119850/chicago-restaurant-bar-closures-2017 RIVER NORTH— Bar Rescue wasn’t enough to save Underground Wonder Bar. The bar, which appeared on Jon Taffer’s TV show in 2014, has closed at 710 N. Clark St. The spot lasted 27 years, hosting live music and entertainment. since 1989. There’s a Facebook post that mentions the closing, and there’s a sign on the door that tells equipment companies how to retrieve any of their property in the bar.
