I like KFC and Feits and Big Ev is the worst Barstool personality, and it's not particularly close. Mantis is also pretty bad. I don't know who half of the new people are, and I'm sure most of them are awful.
outside of Mush and Robbie, none of the new hires have been that compelling or really even competent at their jobs. I like Braden talking baseball most mlb pods are boring because the hosts are writers or analytical people with no personality
I enjoy a lot of the golf stuff he does. I don't listen to the podcasts but his videos are entertaining. He isn't awful on radio. Much worse personalities than him IMO
I don’t follow anything he does but he popped up in my feed during the masters and Game of Thrones, neither of which I need his terrible opinions on, so I needed to say something. You’re all welcome.
I really enjoyed the PMT OAR interview. I also really enjoyed their gold episode with the GoT language guy.
He’s awful but not a main content person so I didn’t bother mentioning him. He does a burger review and blog a week so easy to ignore
You mean the entire shtick of being an asshole to people who are hesitant to clap back at him because he's disabled didn't have much long term potential?
That's a weird take. He built the golf "brand." He annoys me on the radio, but he's obviously doing something right with golf by the way the barstool presence has grown in the PGA.
I’m partially biased because I’m envious. But the guy doesn’t know shit about golf. Feels like he took over the golf stuff because no one else wanted it. They should of brought in an outside hire with actual knowledge and golf experience. Similar to Whitney et al. on spitting chiclets. There’s no shortage of caddies, failed pros, golf hustlers and trunk slammers with dynamic personalities. I want tour stories, side action details, caddy game recounts, etc... Basically someone who has lived that life, not a dude who is playing catch up on his golf knowledge because the job fell into his lap. Golf is the most scandalous sport with infinite story lines/intrigue and he provides none of that for me. I’m hating on the guy but the combo of him and Trent was laughably bad and not in the charming barstool way.
I think that sells him short. Plenty of caddies, failed pros, golf hustlers, etc. may have dynamic personalities but haven't been able to build a brand. Barstool had no presence in golf before Riggs and he invented that portion of the business. It's not like they just found somebody to cover golf; he said "I'm going to cover golf" and built it. Like I said, he's annoying, but I think his results kind of speak for themselves.
I’ve heard him say he lives with his mom in NJ and he rides into the city everyday with her. That 60k and free rent can buy him a lot of rub and tugs.
Credit to him for getting it off the ground, but the product would benefit from an outside assist. Excited to see where they take the barstool tour, that’s a concept worth exploring and will help drive content.
I think it’s also selling short his golf game. He can play. Now there’s just zero reason Trent is on there
