No need to sacrifice quality to provide expanded offerings. Canes knows what canes is. They are not as good as CFA overall and they know it. But at fingers, they have a higher ceiling. That’s their niche.
agreed, but they can go hand in hand. Many airports have rather nice terminals/concourses for hub airlines, but the passenger experience when flying on an airline that has minimal presence at that airport can be a completely different story
c is renovated too right? f is going to be so nice. e reno is on that bill too. $3.5 billion total after they’ve already spent like $2 billion
Last time I was through DFW it was like 90% plywood walls and gate waiting areas. Assuming that has been wrapped up?
I have to fly to Louisville next week and for some reason it's more expensive than my flight to SF. Maybe it's to discourage people from going to Louisville?
SDF is a small, mostly regional airport(outside of the massive UPS freight traffic) and those types don't carry layover passengers from the major Hubs. Always more expensive, unless there's a lot of competition/demand. Flew there a LOT from PHX and it was not too bad with connections, but if I flew directly out of Chicago or Charlotte it was rough.
Domestic. Departs at 9:15, but here’s the kicker — I’m in Bloomington, Illinois for work so I will also need two hours to get to the airport.
At that hour I’d say 90 minutes is probably more than good. If you’re parking, that’s what will kill you.
Yeah I don't think I'll have a rental car. And a lot of people already told/warned me about the nightmare with dropping off rentals at O'Hare.
Every time I go to Chicago I rent a car and return in the city and take the train. Usually it's an excuse just to stay downtown my last night and see my friends but also because fuck O'hare and Midway.
Someone here in Bloomington suggested I take the Amtrak to Chicago and it would take me downtown - $17 one way - but again not sure if I can even make this flight tonight.
I fly to Louisville every week rn. It’s stupid expensive out of ATL, especially if you fly Delta. I’m an American guy, but my bosses tickets are usually $850 minimum every week unless he books a month out in advance Also Louisville has a ton of conferences almost every week this time of year. The airport isn’t big enough to support it. Hotels are always a bitch as well. Would recommend the Omni or Marriott
The worst part of Phoenix airport is getting on a plane in the summer where they didn’t close the window shades - the plane fucking bakes in the summer and my butt starts sweating. Otherwise, great airport.
Is taking DART rail into DFW a bad idea? Seems like every time I either have problems with traffic and/or parking
Yeah I’m going up for a show. I’m usually a Hilton guy but the hotels are laughable. Coworker is driving up from Nashville so I’ll be staying where he decides since he has the car.
i think it’s supposed to be pretty easy. shuttle from the stop to each terminal almost positive they’re connecting it straight to the airport with all the new renovations. that will be great because there’s a stop right by my house
Anything down looks booked. I can still book with my status but my company may not like that cost lol.
Yea I think it’s mostly due to Wednesday night. Shit I’m staying at an AirBnB next week for the first time in my business travel life.
Definitely not a bad idea per se, unless some other factor needs to be considered. I take the rail every time when possible from Fort Worth. It is a different tram, operated by Fort Worth (not Dallas/DART) but I would advocate for rail over driving + parking/uber in most circumstances. Where would you get on?
Yah, connection wise - that works. Just up to you to determine value of time/money trade off vs just ubering to the airport. ~16 minutes by vehicle vs ~54 on rail. For me, it's about ~15 mins difference between the two. 40 mins by uber ($35) or 55 mins by train ($2.50). I prefer train. Worse case, try it once, see if you like it more or less than your other options.
Raleigh Durham airport: a review Check in: there's like one Delta self service kiosk and it was beat to shit. If i was flying Spirit things would have been better, lots of Spirit kiosks. Security: one of the slower moving lines I've ever seen. This would have been debilitating at a larger airport. Dining options: it really punched above its weight on this front. Several good options, way more upscale shopping options than i expected too. Cleanliness: concourses were all really clean but the bathroom i went to looked like shit and the urinal was like something from a prank show and started flushing before i finished and lightly sprayed my pants from knee to ankle. Aesthetics: kind of a mid century look in the terminal that i really dug. Overall score: 6/10 would fly again while using a different bathroom
