It's possible that the switch was part of controlling some electromagnetic force and by disabling it, even momentarily, a plane crash occurred stranding a large group of survivors on an island.

Still loving this show. I'm starting to think they need to hit the gas a little though. I'm sure they will. Plenty of season left.

I think it was/is important to show how he goes from "nice guy who helps his brother while trying to get by as a developing attorney" to "idgaf saul". I do think they will hit the gas soon and it will be glorious

Digging the season but agree I'd like to see them pick up the pace. Also a little concerned Mike continues to look older and slower.

Yep, noticed that right away while watching. Also the toy Mike was putting batteries in for his granddaughter. That ends up helping him kill someone.

It was pretty sensationalist/ambulance chase-y as a commercial (think something a morally flexible lawyer like Saul would do), and Davis & Main is a highly reputable, respected firm that doesn't want to be synonymous with that kind of ad. Think that first ad that Saul watched that was nothing but words, and he was all 'WTF is this shit?' That's something Davis & Main wants to run.

One thing this show does extremely well is accurately portray the law firm lifestyle, and the legal profession in general. They obviously did their homework (not surprising).

Saul's commercial may or may not have been unethical/legal, depending on state laws.

But, I figure if D&M had meeting after meeting on the smallest detail (the original commercial's swirling background), odds are they'd shoot down Saul's commercial in an instant.

What other way could Saul get people on board when he wasn't receiving any signatures through the mail?

Yea, the commercial was borderline unethical, but if you're not 'borderline' as a plaintiff's lawyer then you're not doing a good job. Get as close to that line as you can without going over. I've seen much worse in Alabama.

Same with his 'solicitation' on the bus at the very beginning. I was going back and forth as to whether it was unethical or not. It certainly wasn't 100% right and could easily be interpreted as unethical, but it was close (see: borderline). He never directly solicited anyone, as he said, he just "told a story."

But with Davis & Main, they don't have to stoop to that level to get clients, and have an image to maintain. Saul is of the mindset that he'll do whatever it takes, ethics be damned.

Been on a BB rewatch and just saw the episode(s) where Saul is introduced.
It's like they had the idea of a prequel all along. There are so many little references and such about Saul's past and how well known he is around town. Jesse mentions him twice helping Emilio get off despite the police having him dead to rights, when he mentions that you want a "criminal lawyer". Also when Walt and Jesse hold him at gunpoint he is actually expecting it, except from the cartels, and is screaming the whole time "it wasn't me it was Ignacio". Another interesting part is in his first meeting with Hank, they leave it pretty vauge as to if they've ever met each other previously. Can definitely see Hank making some appearances in this show.

Plus Saul obviously does a lot of work behind the scenes within the first few days of meeting Walt. Really want to see where they end this in relation to BB starting, although unfortunately I'm starting to think that Jimmy becoming Saul won't happen until the end of BCS.

i really dont think they fire him for this. Give him a stern talking to and tell him to never do it again, maybe have him sign something, but then he pulls something out of his ass to make them realize how many he got signed up just a couple hours after the commercial aired

I dont think so either. All will be forgiven when they see he got 200+ clients with a single $700 commercial aired one time.

Do we have any idea on a timeline as to how far ahead from S1 of Breaking Bad we are right now?

Can't really rely on age, as Mike looks the exact same, as does Saul. Have there been any other hints I may have missed?

I'd imagine they let this go like BB, 5 seasons and done. I hate shows that bleed the series dry to make a buck, the best series---BB, The Wire--kept it short and didn't create unnecessary seasons---like Dexter.

Why are we talking about the end of better call Saul already? The show is great and is one of the best spin offs of all time. Go as long as you can IMO.

I would hope the showrunners have an end in mind, not just let it go on in perpetuity as long as they make money. That's how good shows get shitty and stale. Not necessarily 'wanting' it to end, but disagree with 'go on as long as you can.'

Part of what made BB great, imo, was they had a set way on how it would end. You have to have the ending in sight, otherwise you end up with shit like Dexter (I know this is the 2nd time I've used that as an example, but the cliff that show fell off of still astounds me).

Just started watching this due to the fact that it's free on Netflix.

Very pleased with the first season, I have 2 episodes to go. The characters are great and it's weird to see Saul with a conscience for lack of a better word. Like how they are workin Mike into the fold also.

I don't know what season they are on now but this is definitely good.

The writers are absolutely amazing. I would love to see this show go for four to five seasons.

I would give up my left nut for the finale of season four or five to be Jesse showing up wt the Cinnabon and then they go in to another spinoff about him for life after Breaking Bad. The writers are good enough that they could easily get 2-3 seasons of amazing television out of that.

I was hooked the moment a pair of khakis floated across the screen and a middle aged dude in his underwear and a gas mask sped across the screen, but that sounds pretty weird when I say it out loud.

I mean, I'm not calling anyone crazy for not watching it, or even that it's necessary to enjoy better call saul other than the easter eggs. There's even an argument that watching BB means spoilers for people who started with this show, I'm not a judge.

But it's good tv, there are worse things to waste time on
