Super wild coming from a nebraska fan, a state where one senator single handedly stopped you from becoming alabama north
For most of the rest of the conference this is as good as it's going to get. Whatever waits on the other side is going to be way less than giving up a small cut to keep the $ programs happy. Self-preservation for as long as they can.
We all know how this ends, you hold your shit together until the grant of rights expires maximize those dollars and figure out the rest when the ACC falls apart after that.
The pod Jon’s had the North Carolina dem chair on. She’s 25 and incredibly impressive. Gives you hope.
Guys, my mistake, Florida is the education state after all. B1G presidents will not be able to resist.
insinuating state politics means anything is nothing more than random message board conjecture the big ten has indiana which made national news because they made a 10 year old rape victim go to another state for an abortion no one here will defend how awful florida's politics are, but it's a terrible talking point in this topic the same people who think this also say "add UNC & virginia", the former is re-introducing a bathroom bill and the latter had a nazi rally where someone died so it's very obtuse all around
Uhh, UVA/Charlottesville didn’t “have a nazi rally”. The nazis from all over decided to congregate there to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. So all they did was remove a statue.
that's fair, so do we wanna get into a back and forth about their current governor then since that's more topical?
Ron’s direct attacks on and meddling in the Florida educational and university system are the bigger political issue wrt this topic. I agree that it’s not THE consideration, but I think a lot of people minimize it beyond reality. Conference realignment is incredibly political in nature. Like politics, money wins, but if the money is not significantly different, the other issues come into play.
I dont want my post to come off as minimizing what Desantis is doing. I hate him as much as anyone. But, and i'm trying to not be biased, when it's a program the size of FSU I dont think that's an issue that conferences care about. If it was for a small program, then maybe you weigh that against adding a school from a different state.
I just heard about all this jazz. Does it have any legs? Or are y’all listening to that WVU Twitter poster again?
The Dude? Is that guy still around. conference realignment brings out the biggest weirdos and none of them know anything.
Lawyers always find a way to win. This seems like they would have to fully dissolve the ACC to pull any movement off without massive payments.
This has been known for a while. Nobody can individually leave the league without owing their media rights back to the ACC for a decade. The league can’t be dissolved without 8 teams voting for it, and nobody is going to do that without a guaranteed landing spot, of which 8 do not exist. The league isn’t going anywhere until 2030 at the absolute earliest when the math starts to work out a bit regarding money lost and gained.
the conference is a corpse at this point being weekend at Bernie’s around the party for the next 10 years
the acc will be dead within 3 seasons. 2 to the b1g, 2 to the sec. 4 to the big 12. remaining scraps to the pac-12 or into sunbelt platinum.
Leaving the Big East to be a basketball-only member of a conference with no geographic neighbors seems like a colossally stupid idea. Getting a piece of the football pie is the only way it makes any kind of sense. And even then it’s dumb.
