I would not be so certain it's that simple. The acc gor is a copy and paste of the b12 and the b12 has this section. So even if you could keep the remaining teams from backfilling and keeping the league alive they would pretty much be able to ban any school trying these shenanigans from being a voting member.
They wouldnt be withdrawing members. Theyd just vote first to dissolve the conference. No recourse. Cant backfill new members if theres no acc.
Geographically I agree. University culture wise the California schools fit, I don’t think The U does.
I don't believe that's the GOR for the ACC. The GOR is a separate and very short document. ACC withdrawal by laws: 1.4.5 Withdrawal of Members. To withdraw from the Conference, a Member must file an official notice of withdrawal with each of the Members and the Commissioner on or before August 15 for the withdrawal to be effective June 30 of the following year. Upon official notice of withdrawal, the Member will be subject to a withdrawal payment, as liquidated damages, in an amount equal to three times the total operating budget of the Conference (including any contingency included therein), approved in accordance with Section 2.5.1 of the Bylaws of the Conference (the “Bylaws”), which is in effect as of the date of the official notice of withdrawal. The Conference may offset the amount of such payment against any distributions otherwise due such Member for any Conference year. Any remaining amount due shall be paid by the withdrawing Member within 30 days after the effective date of withdrawal. The withdrawing Member shall have no claim on the assets, accounts, or income of the Conference.
oh I thought you were referencing not that big of a revenue gap b/w the 5 at least not to justify blowing up the current CFB setup
the B12 would only be interested in UConn as a basketball only member paired with Gonzaga. the idea is to make B12 basketball the second most valuable basketball league behind the NBA and sell basketball rights separately.
in this hypothetical the big 12 would be the best basketball conference in the country with four national basketball brands
I admittedly don’t know what the Big East schools make from their deal but is the Big 12’s basketball deal really going to be worth that much more for UConn to do that? At the end of the day it’s still just basketball.
The B1G got a whopping $10 mill/yr from CBS for basketball to pick off the top game every weekend. It just doesn’t matter in the grand scheme money wise.
before Boeheim fell off it was UNC, Duke, Cuse and you had Louisville & ND doing pretty well too regardless on if you think they are equal or maybe a little bit better, there is no money in regular season college basketball people only want March Madness rights
CBB is such a shit product that MM is the only thing that sells. It's absolutely putrid basketball and is only going to get worse with the lack of roster continuity
After the Schembechler stuff, I fully support Florida State University joining the SEC, a true haven of progressive thought
If basketball mattered to schools that also play football, the Big East would still have Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Boston College.
cliffs: - Kevin Warren all hat no cattle - B1G coaches and schools still weird little babies about night games (scared of the dark)
As a fan attending I much prefer 3:30 or noon. I do like night games once a twice a year for the big games
