With Muncie already in the B1G footprint, there would not have been an increase in any subscriber money for the BTN, but the prestige factor would have shot through the roof. Securing the Harvard of East Central Indiana was a coup for ESPN, no doubt.
I think Nebraska should be in a conference with the Oklahoma and Kansas schools, plus Mizzou and Colorado. Hell, throw the Iowa schools in there too, but Iowa is traditional Big 10
While I see your reasoning, we need the feed corn provided by Nebraska and Iowa to supplemntal the superior sweet corn of Michigan and Minnesota. Looking at the map, Mizzou probably belongs in the Big 10 and Nebraska in the Big 12. I'd hate to leave Minnesota out in the plains on its own without Iowa underneath it. Going any further west than the Missouri River runs me into EMAW issues I'd rather not contemplate.
West of Mississippi = Big 12, North of Mason Dixon= B1G, South = SECSECSEC. Mizzou is really the only pre-realignment exception.

I hope you're strapped in, fokls: Spoiler MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago Pac12 commish had a meeting with TV executives recently. The news is grim MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago West coasters are cutting the cord at a rate that's over 30% faster than the rest of the country MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago And those that aren't cutting have switched to cheaper packages that dong include regional sports surcharges MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago In 5 years time it is projected that the Pac12 networks will be worthless MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago They may have even hit their revenue peak already MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago This news has several Pac12 schools nervous about the future of not just their network but their next TV deal as well. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago Some have already had some talks with B10 MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago Some have talked to UT MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago UT believes that the ACC and B12 are not the most vulnerable conferences. That honor belongs to the PAC MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago UT sharing this info at the meetings is what caused Borens about face MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago It's why if the B12 expands we will only take 2. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago If the P12 can't figure out this mess then there will be many schools ripe for the picking. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago One old conference mate. 2 desert schools. And maybe an outlier in California that Bowlsby knows well. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago That last ones a big stretch but it's not impossible if B10 were to grab Certain other schools. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago @calluke1 they are most interested in the ones relatively nearby. But if a Stanford was on the table you can't pass them up MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago @TheFrogCastTCU soCals would be a huuuuge stretch. But the desert and the Rockies could be a real possibility. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago @joshualovern87 I think a merger of the Pac12 and B10 with maybe 6-8 from the PAC would be most likely. MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago @joshualovern87 it's why B10 is not perusing any ACC expansion now. That ship has sailed for the time being. I don't think the B1G would be better off with PAC schools, the problem with the PAC schools is, outside of Oregon/USC, do any of them generate any kind of TV ratings? Like I mentioned above, the PAC totally ****ed up by not partnering with Fox/ESPN on a network.
MHver3 @MHver3 11h11 hours ago @joshualovern87 I think a merger of the Pac12 and B10 with maybe 6-8 from the PAC would be most likely. Would be awesome though.
I would just like the ladies out there to know that my dong doesn't include regional sports surcharges.
Agreed. I'll be stunned if we're playing FBS football in 10-15 years. Really gets tougher and tougher for me to care about CFB each year. Just not fun anymore.
Lets just combine the PAC/B1G/SEC/ACC/BIGXIII into one mega 66 team conference with a 65 game round robin regular season schedule.
Well, we already know Arizona and Arizona State are leaving for the Big 12, so it's only a matter of time.
OU fan is apparently going with the aggy approach to change management. http://www.oudaily.com/sports/oklah...37c-28e1-11e6-be5e-cbbb2068e9a9.html?mode=jqm
The best option for probably every school in the Big 12 except for OU is to stay in the Big 12, right? Like the Pac 12 ain't coming for Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. ISU/KU/KSU don't have options. It's not like TCU and Baylor are going anywhere. The ACC and the B1G don't want WVU. So it's 9 on 1.
IF the big 12 splits up, the target schools, your Texas, your Oklahoma, etc., will have a much cleaner exit from a legal and cost standpoint if all the big 12 schools have a home in the P5. so they'll make sure that happens. really as simple as that.
especially your instate schools with a desirable partner in their state (everyone except isu and wvu). OU isn't going to leave and not let OSU have a home, same with TX and their instate bros, and KU/KSU, etc. there's way too much legal and political fallout at stake. this is why I always giggle when people assume P5 schools will just drop down a level and it'll just be too bad so sad
"The Leftovers" Cincinnati Houston Iowa State Kansas Kansas State Memphis Oklahoma State TCU Texas Tech UCF UConn West Virginia East: Cincinnati, Iowa State, Memphis, UCF, UConn, West Virginia West: Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech Baylor can get fucked.
Pretty much. OU/UT and their new conference would defend the p5 status of the B12 to make the transition as smooth as possible.
