I mean, they gave us a bunch of money to beat up on them. Sounds pretty ideal imo.
the media is hysterical. can’t remember any requiem for the big 12 type articles at any point in the last decade
love this shit
This was the better tweet, imo.
^doesn’t love college football
More inventory of high level football matchups which is what the networks/advertisers want.
They want the rights to big time games that will draw high viewership.
Damn I knew there was a tweet and I searched and grabbed the wrong one
Bruh you need to log off
But I was told unc is the brand everyone wants to watch play lmbo
I think UNC would be the #2 realignment target for the B1G after ND if the GOR wasn’t a thing.
Because the Big 12 doesn’t have the Granddaddy of them all, and the sun setting over the San Gabriel (greatest setting in sports), propaganda bs.
Can’t wait until Rose Bowl is neutered bc of this.
To be clear - I don’t think fsu ever has been, or will be on the radar for them
What a very weird thing to be upset about.
There's something that's awesome that we're not traditionally a part of, can't wait for it to go away boo hoo
That's lol funny
Ftr I think the rose bowl is sweet. Media is just melancholy and masturbatory over what they perceive to be bigger brands being crushed under the iron might of capitalism
the only reason we still wax poetic about the rose bowl is because it’s one of the dyed in the wool cfb things that continued to outlive realignment and changes. when I was a kid the cotton bowl was as big a deal as the rose bowl in our area of the country, if not bigger. the sugar and the peach in the southeast. they’re all just random TV matchups now. regionalism in cfb died over a decade ago, which is why it’s funny to see this swan song shit from these sports media types now, of all times
the rose bowl coming on after watching 6 hours of football and in that grey area of being hung over and getting drunk again is amazing
Speaking of sacred cfb traditions, I think we can all agree the final nail in the coffin for college football being truly great was when those bastards pulled outback as the title sponsor of the outback bowl
I hate it dictating things about CFB because it has to be catered to—e.g. timing of playoff games.
I had a lot of fun in Pasadena, but the way sportswriters/broadcasters talk about it is just nauseating.
I don't think so either, but I'd be lying if I didn't say a part of me was worried about them sliding in if UNC goes to the B1G
Playoffs are dumb. Bowls were better.
They paid more for b1g states because those states had shitloads of b1g alumni and fans. I dont think any advertisers or cable company is going to pay a monstrous premium because a school with no fans in a populus state joins the conference.
Reminds me of the people who think insurance companies are fooled by porsche putting two useless seats in the back of a 911. "They price it like a 4 seater sedan!".
The relatively value of markets in a streaming world is vastly diminished compared to simply focusing on the best programs that will produce games between highly ranked teams with guaranteed national draws.
You don’t like that?
The entire point of the discussion is that the BTN deals with providers are structured specifically to give the B1G member schools money based on homes in state. Carriers were also obligated to carry it on their basic cable packages in B1G states. This is revenue to the schools independent of ratings. They didn’t care if nobody watched Rutgers games. NJ and NYC cable providers had to put BTN on their basic cable package and send the B1G money for doing it. Advertising revenue tied to ratings was way down the list. That’s why the B1G thread makes all the Rotel jokes they do. That was the only advertiser on BTN for like 2 years.
Seems like the further we get into streaming, people realize that the cable model is actually not that bad or overpriced and that it is going be way more viable and last longer than many expected.
Rotel would be a step up for the lineup ACCN pulls
Who needs other ads when you have Rotel?
Don’t be joking tac shaver, tac glasses, and the spurtle.
Obs the bigger money deal would be ideal, but seeing fsu play in boulder would give me fuzzies
if that was true then, i doubt its true now. Taking advantage of the BTN contract as written to put the squeeze on cable carriers is a one time deal. There's no way they are going to fall for it again.
I was parodying a Clemson fan on 247. Maybe read back and find it
Rotel makes a great product and I endorse it without reservation.
If i ever get too good for a velveeta rotel nacho dip, i hope the socialist vanguard gives me the wall.
Loling at the idea that CWS appearances is going to be a factor. College baseball fucking sucks.
If your school is in a state that voted for trump, i don’t think you’re in any position to drag either state. Votes for trump twice?
Can we just blanket ban the buttgers posters? Embarrassing showing in here
Obvi doesn’t apply to conference mates or the new lords of CFB. But I do console myself after a good OSU thrashing by reminding myself that NJ did not provide that piece of shit with any electoral votes.
B1G roll: California roll smothered in melted Velveeta and Rotel
lol this is a very good post
