Yeah like the 100 years they weren't in a conference with Texas or any Texas schools before the Big 12. They were a dead athletics program.
I'm sure the Big Ten would be devasted at having to take Texas. Add KU for bball advertising dollars and so Iowa has somebody to play on Thanksgiving when Texas is playing Nebraska, and we're set at 16. The Real B16.
They've probably been hurt as much by realignment as anyone. I don't really follow recruiting closely anymore, but Texas kids who used to go to OU now seem to go to Bama or LSU.
TCU, Baylor, and the rise of A&M's recruiting under Sumlin are probably hurting them in Texas the most. And the rest of the Big 12 for that matter. Elevating TCU from G5 to P5 makes recruiting tougher in Texas while not bringing in new viewers. Bad move imo.
I think OU should just join the Pac 16 and Texas should join the B1G and just let the B12 become a mid-major conference.
ND will never join the B1G. They would instantly lose their NBC deal, and they would be a mid-tier team in their conference. At least as an independent, nobody can assign them a "tier". Nothing in it for them. They are already a declining product, no need for them to speed that up.
I'm asking because I don't know, but how are the two schools academically? Would they fit in the B1G academic profile or are they more SEC material in that regard?
Texas fits the large state research school with good academics profile perfectly. OU not as much, but if Nebraska can get in they should be fine. Their student profile is probably closer to an SEC school though.
Much closer to the B1G in regards to academics, but a big part of why people were saying Texas wanted nothing to do with the SEC was that Bill Powers was still our president and he'd rather chop off his dick and feed it to Reveille than become a part of the SEC. He's no longer at Texas, so maybe there wouldn't be quite as opposition, but
I definitely think our admin considers the academics of the situation. I think its retarded, but its probably the reality.
Academics aside, do Texas fans prefer the SEC to the B1G because it allows them an easier path to the playoffs?
As the self-appointed representative of all Texas fans, we prefer whichever conference tells us we're the prettiest.
I agree with you. Looking at it from your (and I assume most fans) perspective, joining a declining conference such as the SEC gives Texas the quickest path to winning in the Big 2 sports.
I mean everyone was looking out for their best interest. Completely agree w that. Unfortunately for Texas , looking out for theirs was pretty short sighted for them and the conference they're tied to. In regards to what kslim wants to blame on Mizzou and aTm. Why does no blame go to Colorado and Husks? Just curious.
How so? We'd likely be getting our asses handed to us on the field even more so in another conference and it seems like staying in the Big 12 was the best scenario in regards to money since we got paid by ESPN and it wasn't likely any other conference worth a shit would've let us keep the LHN. It also still appears that the conference would likely collapse if Texas left since it's pretty safe to assume OU would go as well and there's the possibility that Tech would be tied to Texas (although that doesn't seem like as much of a guarantee like it was a few years ago), so Texas would be able to retain it's TV rights.
I'm not talking about Texas leaving or starting LHN w it's third tier rights I'm talking about before anyone left - most of the conference had issues w the unequal revenue sharing and Texas said "were better than everyone else, go fuck off" If they had some foresight, big twelve looks the same, plus maybe TCU and lville
I think it was in reference to me saying Bill Powers would rather chop off his own dick and feed it to Reveille than have Texas join the SEC. That being said, you can't deny that you'd be first in line to feed your beanie weenies to her.
Or we could burn both schools to the ground with all 200 of their students locked inside. Just tossing that out there.
Texas is in better shape now than they were before. If we weren't, we would easily find a landing spot. If you think about it most teams made out well in the last reshuffling.
it does but their hand was forced by you guys. Beebe is a fucking idiot so it all lies with him but strings were pulled to start this whole mess. Tbh I'm good with it now but we're probably fucked if we don't add anyone
Is being in a conference they almost has no shot at the playoffs a good situation? I don't disagree w the latter though. Mizzou, aTm, Nebraska are in better shape. I guess part of just wished the Big 12 would have worked out. However my point is, largely Texas not willing to make concessions is what prompted the exodus. As a uT fan, you prob don't care, though. I prob wouldn't either.
The stings that were pulled were lack of revenue sharing. Mizzou had nothing to do with that. If you think Mizzou had any kind of pull that could have prompted all of this, that's hilarious. Mizzou had no pull and was a factor in why we left.
I'm not quite sure the situation this past year would have played out the same way had it be Texas/OU instead of known bottom tier bitches TCU/Baylor. You keep pointing at Texas not wanting to concede in equal revenue sharing, but there were 3 other schools doing the same thing, including 2 that left the conference.
Would Love a 16 team PAC PAC8 - Charter School Division UW WSU UO OSU CAL STN USC UCLA PAC8 - The Rest Of The Faggots UA ASU CU Utah . . . .
Didn't Mizzou leave after the conference had already agreed to equal revenue sharing? Could be wrong, but I thought they did.
You keep pointing at Texas not wanting to concede in equal revenue sharing, but there were 3 other schools doing the same thing, including 2 that left the conference.[/quote] 3/4ths did. And Texas ran the show. So while those other schools also did not, If Texas said yes, others would have fallen inline
2/3rds did (8/12=2/3...public ivy, bitch) and I don't think OU, Nebraska, and A&M are/were prone to just falling in line with anything Texas wanted considering they were our biggest rivals.
