That would be brutal on the eyes for 3.5 hours
Not bad. I'd flip Kansas and Iowa State. Makes sense geographically and maintains two intrastate rivalry games.
Clearly there is not much upside for A&M in terms of recruiting, as being able to sell staying in Texas and play in the SEC has been huge for our in-state recruiting. Also the change of redoing divisions or implementing pods leaves some questions about how things will shake out. But if Texas and OU want in, the SEC won’t say no. No question the league is already tops, but now there’s now there’s no chance any leagues ever overtakes the SEC. Also seems like the trends in college football/athletics are leading to consolidation of power among the biggest 30 to 60 programs to the exclusion of smaller schools.
All that to say: bring it on.
Rutgers in the North and Notre Dame in the East for... reasons.
I agree with this. I was watching a YouTube video that broke down the crazy 2007 season week by week, and it was wild to see the amount of upsets and just overall teams across the country that were solid and relevant that year
How could you trade-in that lucrative New York market?
I'm sure the ACC would trade Louisville for Penn State if it's geography you're worried about
I'd like to believe that Bowlsby was really that much out of the loop on this
Lol this isn't an AD decision.
Yea thats the move. Would suck not playing LSU every year but whatever. Same with AU/UGA.
we can easily achieve that goal with no divisions. it most likely would make it easier to pull off.
Pods make that easier
The post I quoted was about pods. LSU wouldn't be in Bama's pod.
You couldn't be more off on nebraska. We had 9 or more wins in 5 of the first 6 years in the BIG and have been recruiting as well or better and that's with shit teams. You also say Missouri is recruiting better and that's not true. You guys have had four top 40 classes in 9 years in the sec. And rank 13th in average class in the Sec since the move. It has nothing to do with the conference, we just have terrible coaches.
3 rivalry games each
6 rotating games against the other 12 with 3 of those being the first of a two game series and the other 3 being the second of a two game series.
3 teams you play each year
the other 12 you play twice per four years
here's an example bama schedule
Right. But a 4 team pod with 1 permanent cross over would help maintain rivalries better than 2 large divisions were you hardly play other teams.
I like this
Did you see the post I quoted? It was 4 team Pods.
Someone really needs to let UVA know they're on the same level of Duke and UNC when it comes to running the conference
I compared Mizzou's recruiting success to itself, historically, not Nebraska.
I read the below -
As you saying those games would not happen
SEC throwing A&M a bone with those pods
Under the scenario they posted, the one that I quoted, they wouldn't.
Exactly and if there's one thing New Yorkers love it's Rutgers football. Everything page of the NY thread is all Rutgers football.
I am not going to go 5 pages with you on something this stupid while you try to backtrack out of what you said. I posted the response to your statement that pods make it easier to keep those games
I think the best option is to go no divisions, 10 conference games a year. Play 5 teams every year, and rotate 5 of the other 10 every other season or whatever to still host every team in a four year period. That gives enough wiggle room for rivalries to continue and to make the schedules somewhat more fair.
I kind of love that.
That's fine. Who gives a shit.
I'm not backtracking anything. I like that set up they posted. It allows you to host everyone every 4 years. It doesn't allow Bama and LSU to play every year bc they are in different Pods. I'm ok with that. Perfect world would be Bama, AU, UT, and LSU in one Pod but that's not happening bc of balance. You're saying Pods make it easier yet they literally posted the Pods and they don't make those games happen yearly. Not sure what you can't grasp.
Louisville is a decently fun visit
You could do rotating pods where Division 1 the first year is Pod A and Pod B. Then year two it's Pod A and Pod C etc you'd end up playing teams way more often than now. For example, FSU played at Pitt in 2013. They didn't play again until last year (and I think that wasn't originally supposed to happen this year) they don't go back to play at Pitt until like 2027. That isn't a conference
Mods need to lock either this thread or the realignment thread but having two threads on one topic is a lot to keep up with!
LSU and Alabama can be permanent cross overs within the pod set up. Same for UGA and Auburn. Like I said, pods make it easier to protect the rivalries
Yeah, that's the best grouping I've seen so far
It's july and people are complaining about multiple active football threads. I say let's make another
I’ve heard a lot of people refer to it as the Muncie of north-central Kentucky.
fair enough I guess but u know where I can some adderall so can up with all of this?
How do you have a conference championship with Pods? Semis and a Final? That would be 11 conference games in a year for a couple teams if there's a 9-game schedule.
No. You still have divisions. They would change yearly.
can't wait for wvu to come to the acc as they were always destined to do
Did you even read their tweet?? The system they posted doesn't have permanent crossovers. You're adding stuff and changing what they posted.
You do realize they are literally using Pods right? Like it says it right here. You keep saying pods make it easier like there's only one way to use pods.
i was playing my ncaa wvu dynasty recently and the game invited my team to join the acc and kicked out nc state to make room
hearing this option is on the table for expansion
Hop into the Missouri pod imo
Like ancient history? In 9 years in the Sec you have four classes that were top 40 like I said. The previous 9 years in the big 12 you had 7 top 40's and four top 25 classes. Its not even close.
we need one thread for this shit, I’m fixin to merge this into the realignment thread
