Would support a EU-style open borders agreement with the US/Mexico/Canada/UK/EU/Aus/NZ/South Korea/Japan/probably a few others. Honestly the biggest hurdle would probably be the rest of them accepting our cowboy asses.

Has there been anything that analyzes the labor shortage besides UI extension? That cant be the only reason, right?
The labor shortage appears to come from people not wanting to work for low wages. They are complaining but basically if people are staying home for $7.50 an hour full time then that’s a problem for companies. Maybe pay them what they are getting to “sit at home”
unfortunately this is likely to work people probably can't afford to simply relocate and they'll be more desperate
I love Mehdi but were there really that many people worth arguing with who thought Biden would be as bad as Trump?
I'm not going to dig through old posts but a similar sentiment was expressed by some here. Not necessarily that he'd be as bad as Trump but that nothing would change and the difference in actual outcomes would be neglible
A lot of people? Yes. Any worth arguing with? No. They've moved onto shitting on AOC/Bernie for not championing their stupid #ForceTheVote and are hoping for Dem losses in 2022 so they can make more patreon money off outrage.
I can’t even imagine how much pain that woman went through. If that were my daughter, I would be an absolutely broken man. Like completely and utterly broken.
checking in 55 minutes after my post to announce to the world that I have begun to feel the effects and am now dead to the world
The finger wagging about all this is great too like we somehow all voted for Trump Even though I think everyone here who is a lefty voted for Biden and encouraged others to.
I was also hoping the revisionist history about the posting in the democratic candidate thread would stay in that thread
I say this all the time, but Biden’s greatest political skill is knowing which way the wind is blowing in the Democratic Party and setting a course in that direction.
I don’t know if you guys are aware but Evil Bernie and Psychotic AOC are pulling the strings on mentally incapable Joseph (like Stalin!) Biden
Rothko actually had to start a separate centrist Democrat thread in October 2019. We’re all good now, but it’s not revisionist history. https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/the-democratic-establishment-tammany-lives.178545/
I think most people understood the “lesser of two evils” arguments and aren’t surprised that Biden has cleared the exceedingly low “not Trump” bar. I think the difference is that some people have no expectation that Joe will twist Manchin’s arm to make real structural change happen.
Manchin is representing arguably the most conservative state in the country. Only Wyoming voted slightly more red in 2020. He is also the only remaining Democrat there. Get him to keep voting stimulus and infrastructure, allow the Democrats to run on a 2022 economy that’s looking like it’s going to be humming, and hope he votes for voting rights reform. That’s all you can ever expect from Manchin.
I'm talking specifically about the claim that people said Biden wouldn't be any better than Trump. What you're talking about is policy differences. If you can find even a dozen posts saying loosely that Biden wouldnt be significantly different from Trump out of the thousands in that thread, I'll happily admit that I'm wrong. It just didn't happen
My care level about this is about a 2/10 but the mischaractarizations about what people actually said in that thread have been projected badly so many times... idk it's lame
There has been a skilled labor gap for a while now. Less people going into trades as older workers retire. I’ll try to find some good literature.
