thank you for repeating uncorroborated stories with no concurrent media coverage and then referencing the propagandized panic surrounding the narrative referenced that went on for decades after you'd think if these airports were chaotic with troops coming home in the 60's and early 70's you'd have some media outlets present to document it right?
did it happen in the way propagandized? maybe, no one knows really. edit- hey i actually found the SINGULAR news report about an instance of it happening but with no context http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/press_box/2007/03/picketts_charge.html?nav=fix but in no way was it the widespread nonsense that got repeated to all of us growing up like gospel
In a world where Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, John Cronyn, and Tommy Tuberville breathe air, she is my most hated Senator. That is astounding.
I had forgotten that after Jan 6 even Kevin McCarthy was publicly saying Donnie T deserved some blame. Boy that sure didn’t last.
I mean, young — under 50?— people pretty much share the blame right. Like fuck us for not raising fuss about this shit.
Pretty sure Sinema was on record saying Manchin was her favorite politician before she was ever elected. Yes the alternative would have been McSally but I don't think she really tried to hide who she was during that Senate run.
I think we just got swept up trying to blue wave that we lost sight on who was running behind some of the more progressive senators. I didn’t know much about her, hand up
I remember this interview she had with pod save America at the time. I think they were doing a lot of interviews with candidates in a bunch of races. All mostly standard this is what we are going to do liberal fare. But she just came off terribly, that weird Mavericks centrism that just wasn’t in the air at that time. I had been suspicious of her ever since then and she has proved that inclination right with every step she has taken in office. I don’t care who it is but I will personally donate and phone bank for whoever her opponent is in the primary in ‘24.
At this point I think there's no way she's going to run for re-election unless she miraculously grows a spine and helps eliminate the filibuster.
Manchin is annoyingly centrist, but he's not going to refuse to vote to go on vacation. That's pretty much the opposite of who he is.
I looked at Sinema’s Instagram a few weeks ago and when I noticed everything posted was manipulated to have a unifying aesthetic, like she’s some sort of mom blogger selling organic supplements, I knew there were problems with her priorities. One of the pillars of her design language is the color purple :/
I’ve heard the stories first hand. This isn’t any conspiracy theory spun by the right wing news ecosystem. My father returned from Vietnam at the end of September 1969, two weeks after NBC aired its report on Mai Lai and there were protesters at the airport. He was never physically assaulted or anything close to that, but he was in uniform and he had protestors there who were shouting at him about Mai Lai as a 20 year old kid who had nothing to do with it and only went to Vietnam because he got drafted.
Honestly, you are just as bad sometimes as the right wing nuts who cry “crisis actor” every time they see an witness anecdote they don’t like.
You're reading into something very specific like I'm implying I 100% predicted every action she's taken, my point was that Sinema's love of grid-lock was something she signaled toward before winning in 2018. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/24/us/politics/kyrsten-sinema-arizona.html
thanks herb i mostly just think anecdotes are useless due to the endless evidence that people are terrible historians, implant false memories, etc so it'd need to be reported in real time or corroborated to make it somewhat credible you're a lawyer, this should be common knowledge for you
Fair enough, but I wasn’t reading into anything. Your post responded to a tweet about her vacation plans making her miss a vote.
Mostly I was responding to Molly Knight acting like she's surprised Sinema hasn't always been a craven attention seeking piece of shit.
i cosign sinema mostly just wants attention but the idea she's a good politician is being tested HARRRDDDD right now unless it's all building to some turn, because arizonas dems aren't the types she's pandering to with gridlock
In addition to bipartisan/reconciliation infrastructure efforts, they have to do debt ceiling and appropriations by the end of Sept..
"Of course, anyone who has ever been in a relationship with a fuckboy knows that saying the words “I love you” doesn’t always mean the person actually feels that way. However, there is a second way to display one’s love for America. Hating Black people. I’m not saying that everyone who loves America hates Black people. (I wasn’t being facetious. I really don’t know what loving a country means.) But history, news and personal interactions have taught me that most of the people who hate Black people also love America. Jefferson Davis said “I love the Union and the Constitution” just before he turned traitor to start his own white supremacist nation. Loving America was an excuse for lynching Black people during Reconstruction and after World War I. It was Strom Thurmond’s patriotic duty to sic the FBI on Martin Luther King Jr. because King didn’t love America. The Panthers hated America so much they gave away free breakfast in their community. Black people’s lack of affection for this country inspired COINTELPRO. The last Olympic basketball team lost because LeBron James hates America, according to Jason Whitlock. So does Black Lives Matter. Colin Kaepernick, too. Still, some organizations are not afraid to explain what they stand for: It stands for America first–first in thought, first in affections, and first in the galaxy of nations. The Stars and Stripes forever above all other and every other kind of government in the world. That is from a mission statement from the Ku Klux Klan." god damn this is good
Right, there's been two polls that I know of that shows her support is cratering in Arizona, she's either already accepted she isn't going to run for re-election or she's perhaps getting paid a ton of money behind the scenes to do the GOP's and lobbyists bidding.
I think its the former. She's toast, maybe doesn't even want to be in politics, so shes building her brand now because she knows being a somewhat attractive former politician is enough to get her on TV
Her Wikipedia has been edited to say she’s a Republican. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyrsten_Sinema
FYI, the US Supreme Court foreclosed the issue of airports as public spaces in 1992 in International Society for Krishna Consciousness. That is later than I thought. The Krishnas sued the Port Authority of New York, arguing that public funding of the airport terminal meant it should be treated as a public space like a town square. As a result, the Port Authority could not restrict their access or efforts to exercise First Amendment rights in the terminal. They lost. The post-911 world of air terminal access and security bears no resemblance to what it was like in the 1970’s.
She's bought and paid for and not particularly concerned with re-election. At least not at the moment. IMO
I mean we also know the military would murder us in the 1,000's without hesitation if we pulled some shit like white people did on Jan 6th. We know this countries history and know if we really did try that it would likely mean millions of us would die even those who did nothing as result. It would be the green light Republicans and many Dems always wanted to exterminate a portion of us
Mace is such a joke. ran as some bipartisan work together republican to win in Charleston and immediately went full Trump Repub
Yes, focused on baby sleep. She caught a bunch of shit as it was unearthed she was donating to trump’s stop the steal effort. But the signs were always there.
Really hoping I’m not about to find out moms on call was some right wing nut job charlatan. That schedule of theirs saved my life when I had a newborn.
Oh we didn’t have anyone come over. I just got the book and stuck to the schedule religiously. We did have a lactation consultant come to the house who looked and spoke like Mrs. Doubtfire.
